P.S. I was about when the increase in RPI was introduced last year across the board with Itemised billing... I couldnt believe some of the rubbish people were being fobbed off with at the time by some advisors!

I started a couple of T-mobile contracts end of January/ beginning of February on everyone tariffs. I haven't recieved any info of price changes but was wondering if I am eligible for cancelling my contracts?

    Many thanks from a newbie!

Thanks for the well wishes Mobicate! I indeed succeeded and am free of T-Mobile. My other half decided not to cancel his as he was due for an upgrade - or so he thought. He's been with T-Mobile for over ten years and about eight months ago was given an upgrade quote worth about £150. The handset he wanted was unavailable so Customer Services took down his details and promised to call him when it was in stock. Last month it dawned on him that its been too long and so called them back only to be told that the upgrade offer has been withdrawn altogether. So he can't have that or any other phone unless he pays for it fully as they've changed their policy and no longer offer free upgrades. Is this true?

We feel so betrayed and cheated. He can still cancel if he wants as he is not currently tied into a contract. However its so annoying for them to make an offer, say they'll call, ignore him and then withdraw the offer. Some Customer Service!

free upgrades withdrawn ??? Sounds utter rubbish to me. My son got his free upgrade a few weeks ago. I think you would be better phoning again and speaking to another agent

Basically the value of your upgrade is determined by a number of factors, mainly how much you spend on monthly rental, and how many billable calls you make a month. If you are a top class customer (T0 and T1, though they won't tell you how you have been graded), you get the biggest discounts and often as a result free upgrades.

if you are a 'poor' customer in terms of customer revenue (S4 and below) they won't offer you much of an upgrade discount, if at all.

I thought it sounded like total rubbish. However I can't understand how they could offer him the upgrade and then later withdraw it. Even if his expenditure reduced over the following six months they could honour their promise or at the very least simply reduce the upgrade amount from say the £150 to maybe £120. Especially as they promised to call him when his choice of handset was instock and never did.

We probably did end up with one unhelpful rep and will call again.

Every agent has to record details of the call you made to them in Account Memos. When you ring again, ask them to check the memos, especially for the call where you say they promised to ring back.

My experience of the system is that agents will rarely read past the last one or two memos if at all (there may be hundreds for an account), so insist they check it. if you are not happy ask to speak to a supervisor.

If you are still not happy write a letter to the head of T-mobile describing your complaint in detail. There is always a director's office which is staffed with people who have to investigate complaints that arrive there and you will get a quicker and better response
