I would like to send a letter to the Head of Personal Banking at Halifax and the Head of Customer Services there too. I do not want to waste time contacting the general Customer Services department. Any info out there - names and addresses please. Why is this information so difficult to find, surely our banking industry should be more transparent? Why are these names and addresses not easily available under freedom of information legislation (or maybe I am looking in the wrong place)?

Freedom of Information does not cover non-statutory bodies such as private companies.
Re the banking industry not being transparent because you cannot write to an executive, you can, but if you send a letter in, it will go to the same complaint team as if you followed the due complaints process as Lokolo said.Best Regards

It would usually be just as quick (or slow) to go through the standard complaints procedure.I would like to send a letter to the Head of Personal Banking at Halifax and the Head of Customer Services there too. I do not want to waste time contacting the general Customer Services department.
Here's a link to that.
Why not go straight to the top. Here's a link to a number of CEOs contact details. The one that may be of most value to you is . I'm sure with his retirement looming he'll ensure that it's dealt with by the appropriate complaints team.Any info out there - names and addresses please.
Have you tried ringing and asking for them? Why is this information so difficult to find, surely our banking industry should be more transparent?
You've used Google and not uncovered anythnig. But that doesn't mean things are being hidden. There is a clear complaints process laid out. If you don't like it, make enquiries to find out who's in charge of what you're complaining about. Ringing the complaints line would be a good starting point for that. Why are these names and addresses not easily available under freedom of information legislation (or maybe I am looking in the wrong place)?
Why you think this is a Freedom of Information Act issue, Lord only knows.
(Why not post details of your concerns. You may find that you get help here).0 -

I am unable to find any evidence that the OP has a complaint with Halifax from their original post (and they have only made one post on this forum)
Perhaps they want to send a christmas card to the the Head of Personal Banking at Halifax and the Head of Customer Services (it is that time of year after all)

It's possible that a bublic body eg the FSA has the contact details that the OP is seeking and they would be subject to the FOI

Yeeees... I bet Alison Brittain (Customer Services Director, Santander) is really clearing all the shelftops in her office ready for the deluge of all the "Thank You" Christmas cards!0 -
Thanks Opinions4U. I have already got Eric's email address, actually I've found a website with the email addresses of the heads of lots of UK companies.0

You don't seriously think that all these chief executives answer their own emails, do you? They are all intercepted by a PA who will pass your enquiry or complaint further down the line to someone much more junior to investigate. Only very rarely will a chief executive get involved personally, e.g. if the complaint comes from a government minister, perhaps.0 -

Actually it does sometimes work. A couple of years' ago I had a problem with BT and after weeks' of getting nowhere with the usual complaints route I sent an email to the then Chief Exec and got an immediate reply from his PA who got the issue resolved within the day. To my surprise, she also arranged for a lovely food hamper to be sent to me as an apology (I hadn't asked for any compensation, just that the issue would be resolved).0 -

Most banks have an executive complaints team that do all the legwork anyway. Nice to hear you got your complaint dealt with at BT, but at the end of the day, that is not an executive's job, and it will in most cases be passed to someone else to deal with.Best Regards
