Orange have they done wrong?
Good evening,
Took out a contract early 2009 with the company that claims the "future is bright".
The signal I was receiving on the phone was poor, family also on "future is bright" on PAYG not contract were getting much better signal. I raised this issue by phone and they fobbed me off with story about not being able to exchange my phone due to being to far into my contract(only 3 months).
Few weeks later the phone freezes, colouring on screen is wrong and keeps switching itself off. I decided stuff this, don't bother using my phone and go back to old service provider on PAYG and stop paying contract.
Started recently getting letters saying that I owe them money for rest of contract.
Is there anyway I can tell them to go poke it without having to pay anything?
Cheers,
allyjs

so basically after 4 months, you stopped paying your contract?0 -
You are stuffed in all honesty.
If you had done something about this within 14 days you may have had a chance, but after 3 months in reality you are taking the p1$$.
However, can you get a signal on T Mobile? If so, all is not lost as T Mobile and Orange have now amalgamated and it is possible to set your phone to roam between both signals, so that it picks up whichever network is best.
Have a look at https://www.orange.co.uk/share or https://www.tmobile.co.uk/shareDon't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

You are screwed. Legally, you haven't a leg to stand on. Pay the money and hope that the damage to your credit score isn't too bad.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

The problem with the phone didn't arise until after 14 days. Surely a phone in a 18 month contract that does not work properly after 3 months is not fit for purpose?0 -

so you feel that consumer laws are relevant but your contract isnt?
you are contracted for 18 months
you need to resolve your issues with Orange.
so you think those 4 months of payments cover the cost of your handset?0 -
You signed a legally binding contract. You then reneged on it. You did every wrong thing going.
- Cancelled payment,
- Didn't get any agreement to alter original contract.
- Didn't get them to repair phone under warranty.
- Trashed your credit record.
You just can't do that and expect to walk away.
You couldn't do it if you bought a car on credit that had problems, nor anything else on credit.
Better get back and talk to Orange or your future certainly isn't brighter.0 -
Basically yes, would you continue to pay money for something that doesn't work properly and the company will do nothing about it?
They didn't say they wouldn't do anything, they said they wouldn't replace it. By law, they aren't obliged to replace it. Had you persevered they would've sent the phone off for repair.
You are in the wrong; deal with it.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button
