Im with the OP on this one....

My cousin used to play in a female rugby team and when they lost out in the semi finals one of the team grabbed the ball and booted it Quite hard, was silly and we all heard the 'bang' as it hit a car and stood open mouthed at the dent it had caused. The alarm was set off on the car and owner came running out of the bar.
Tho if I remember rightly they were using a pro leather ball (not sure if the 'pro' (professional) means anything, just remember those words!!).
The car was not meant to be parked where it was but thats no excuse as it easily could have been someone standing there or the bar windows!!

Edited to add, the dent was between the small back window and the the back of the car, but not on door panel. Not a big wide dent but a deep dent!
  • I attended rugby matches which my dad and brother played for about 15 years, many a time were cars hit by balls but NEVER did I see any left with a dent..of any kind!

But thats by the by, the prob is your car now has dents and whatever made the dent doesn't really come into it. Its a shame but with no witnesses really, and no proof i'd say its just very bad luck for you.

Those dents could not have been caused by a rugby ball, no matter how hard it hit the car - why would a white rugby ball leave white marks on impact?

Without a witness you unfortunately have no proof of who did this - just because you neighbours son had a party, it does not mean that someone attending it caused the damage, although I do agree this could have been the case. I would avoid causing yourself and you neighbour any more stress and let the insurance company deal with it like any other damage found = I guess as it' s a company car, they wont penalise you anyway. By all means let them have the FACTS and let them decide whether they want to pursue a 3rd party. Put yourself in your neighbours position - what would you do?

    Can I get this right

What you are saying here is, they threw an air filled rugby ball

It hit your car, not once but twice???

Or are you saying, they threw it once, it hit the car

Then they went and got the ball

Then threw it once more at the car, then left the ball by the car??

The swage line of the car is the most strongest part of a panel, I can guarantee a rugby ball unless thrown with ridiculous force would not cause that. Report it as criminal damage, claim on your insurance - that's what its there for.
