Wow! Thats a strong discount. You're going to have a honeysuckle too ... and a passionflower .... maybe I could do something with one side of the front of my house, its only got one border and the rest is paved.... must't do it yet, mustn't do it yet, I need to grow **food** plants, argh - mini greenhouse sounds excellent. I've got to get to grips with this!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

You'll get there! I thought it was time for a few more flowers, now we've sort of got the hang of veg. And also I discovered from Se's link that honeysuckle flowers are edible.. and of course you can make jasmine tea
All good for attracting the bees too.
Got this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vegetable-Herb-Expert-Dr-Hessayon/dp/0903505460 in the post yesterday - really useful on planting conditions and diseases/ pests but a little bit oldfashioned, it talks about vegetables which "the normal British housewife has not really discovered" :rotfl:
Really tired this morning, it was cold last night and I had a restless sleep. Slightly less busy than yesterday but with the application (for students) deadline tomorrow the emails are still coming in thick and fast.
I've been thinking about my diet a lot this week. Trying to keep track using http://www.myfitnesspal.com but I'm sure I'm underestimating quantities (and forgetting the odd thing!). I have been good at having smaller portions this week though, and ignoring the chocolate and biscuits at work in favour of fruit and nuts.
Edit - ooh just got my payslip for this month with my new salary, new monthly amount is... £1268 - a whole £30-ish extraDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Watch out with the nut quantities, they might be healthy, but they tend to be calorie laden unfortunately.
I love watching the bees in the garden, I know you can't eat them but I have to have foxgloves just to watch them fly in and out. Other favorites were one garden where we had giant deep red poppies, the black pollen turned the bees blackI normally have buddleia too for the butterflies, unfortunately I like the white, but they prefer the pink and lilacy ones, so I have to adjust my planting colour scheme too
Lavendar is always a bee favorite.
A plant I've not used yet, but the bees were going wild over it at Ryton was 'poached egg plant'.0 -

:rotfl: I read that as "you can't eat bees".. must get brain in gear!
The poppies sound amazing. We've got an orange-y coloured buddleia which seems to be pretty popular with the bees and butterflies.. my grandparents used to have a massive buddleia in their garden and I can remember spending ages sitting on the lawn trying to count the butterflies on itDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
How lovely! I didn't know honeysuckle flowers were edible - I have a 1950s book called "Flowers as Food", must check it all out. I have lavender and buddleia - I'll be working hard for the bees in my planting, certainly. The thing they used to love at my old house was cotoneaster - the front path was lined with the stuff, it made it quite tricky to get in sometimes
Hope you feel a bit less bleurgh this afternoon, Squizz.
Hi SE!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Arrgh! So busy! Hundreds of emails and non-stop phone calls... can't wait for today to be over! At least it should go quickly
Finished another chapter of OU book and some extra reading last night. Some people on the course forum are grumbling about it being boring or difficult but I'm loving it (maybe I'm a bit strange.. hmmm don't answer that one!)
And finally, I weighed myself this morning and appear to have lost a couple of poundsDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Its the right course for you,and the right food plan for you, hurray! Sorry about all those emails, tho as you say the day will go quicker because of it. Don't tire yourself out for the weekend2023: the year I get to buy a car0

It's definitely gone fast - actually it's not been too bad, it's quietened down this afternoon. This is probably my busiest, most stressful time of year work-wise and, well, it's actually OK.
I'll definitely sleep tonight though!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
The OU forums get on my nerves sometimes, it always seems to be that something is too hard or boring! No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

There does seem to be a lot of that - and a bit of showing off too! I think I'll be dipping in and picking and choosing which topics to read...
Monday again - and an absurd amount of work to do over the next couple of days
Got to the farmers market on Saturday - it was really busy and quite a few stalls had sold out by the time we got there! Still got lots of stuff, got a nice full freezer now
Yesterday was actually fairly productive, we had a walk, an afternoon cooking session again, and I had a sewing buttons back on/ fixing things session and a clothes sort out, but I felt rubbish all day and had a bit of a tantrum when I was struggling with some of the sewing and seemed to be in a generally clumsy mood all day.. hormones.. grrrrr.
Had a good sleep last night though, apart from a weird dream where I was discussing Michelin starred restaurants with Stephen Fry!
Right, on with the emails, spreadsheets, etc etc etc.... oh it's payday...Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
