Curiously good day so far.. apart from a really annoying meeting earlier. Not a huge amount of work to do so ended up typing up the first half of my essay instead
Lovely weather outside, had a good wander at lunchtime, popped into a vintage clothes shop - didn't buy anything but have seen some lovely jumpers and tweedy skirts/ long shorts. Still want the squirrel jumper but definitely tending back to my vintage/ charity shop roots!
Got lunch and a few bits in Boots with Advantage Card points so no spending todayDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I got my sarnie in Boots! It was wheat and cow's milk cheese, so I may suffer tomorrow, but I really needed it
glad you some of your essay typed

Hope you're not suffering too much. Yep typing essay during the day is useful, as it means I don't have to do it in the evening... so more time for flute practice and stuff... erm what else did I do? Oh yeah topping up the tomato pots with soil as roots were showing a bit, picking beans and salad (had lovely pasta with green beans, bacon and wild garlic pesto).. general pottering about.
Wish this week would hurry up - looking forward to the long weekend although not sure what we're actually doing yet. There were rumours of camping but we've said that a few times.. :rotfl:
£75 left in the bank, but not much to spend before payday (next Wednesday) - badminton is booked and paid for next week, money for flute lesson is in my purse.. just need a few food bits and whatever we do at the weekend.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
All is fine - I didn't eat much either side of it, so I think I've got away with just ordinary grumbling
Camping ... I know its supposed to fine up, but .... hmmmmm. But I *am* with you on freeing up the evening by typing .... most definitely2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
*tells the week to hurry up*
Hope you have a good day£75 left doesn't sound much, but you sound pretty laid back about it, which means it sounds OK for you - yay to boots points, I found my card the other day, must put it in my purse and my co-op one.
Well reminded I need to do something for my own tomatoes............ thanks!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Weather is lovely here at the moment Karma, but some heavy rain forecast so hmmm indeed.
Pippi, we have lots of tomatoes but 99% of them are green - and have been for ages - fingers crossed they do actually ripen as I'm still using up green tomato chutney from last year!
£75 is a little bit .. but should be OK, and I have got some in savings in case anything drastic does come up.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Red, tomatoes, I'd not worry too much if you have alot of green tomatoes, I harvest alot of mine green - the older ones, I put them in a bowl on the table or a sunny windowsill and as if by magic they appear to ripen.
I talked to the guy from work about it, seemingly they'll generally ripen, even if very green. We did it at work one year when the tomato crop was very heavy - picking the older tomatoes, let the others a better chance to ripen. Both lot ended up red.
Might be worth a go later if you think you've far too many green ones.
A banana hung in the greenhouse/in the bowl of tomatoes works too - the gas the bananas gives off ripens the tomatoes.......
For a while when little though, I thought my grandad was very impressive growing tomatoes and bananas on the same plants in the greenhouse! Only later did he confessthey weren't tomato/banana plants, but banana or two in the greenhouve to help them to ripen - lol!
And if all failed, I made pasta sauce with the green ones too, worked fine, looked wierd but tasted ok.............Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Thanks for that Pippi, think I might have to give the banana in the bowl trick a go. The plants are outdoors (which might explain why they're taking so long to ripen, but we have had quite a lot of sun!).. pasta sauce might be good too. As well as the chutney I tried a green tomato jam recipe last year but slightly burnt it and ended up with green tomato caramel - not pleasant!
Just realised my first bargain veg box arrives today - something to look forward to
Have done budget for September based on not getting paid from second job until then. Not as healthy as I would have liked but it's OK.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Squizz, if the amended budget is anything passable at all, then thats brilliant - after all, you're out hundreds of pounds because of their ineptitude. Any word *why* they're so inept yet?2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Nope except that woman in charge of it all is on holiday for a fortnight, back next week.. just emailed her so hopefully it will be sorted out when she gets back (bring back the rolly eye smiley!). Just filled in my timesheets up to the end of last week when I handed back to other person, and they now owe me £1000!
