probably because it's a more desireable brand than Peugeot, check the prices of the Citroen C1 as well all three made in the same Czech factory to virtually same spec and they're all low tax & insurance brackets.

Have a look at the Fiat Panda. Excellent wee car and as a bonus it's made in Poland.

If I had £6000 or £7000 to buy a car for city use I would get a used Prius, the London Private Hire/Minicab trade has proved that they can take plenty of miles, and you aren't buying a car with inherent weakness' like the clutch for instance.

Though as said above the cheapest way to buy an Aygo is to buy a Citreon C1, no point being badge aware on a cheap city car when you can save a grand with a different badge.

I'd chek the insurance costs as well, if there is any difference it may be more than the price difference in the cars.

You don't consider having to replace the batteries at some point an inherent weakness?

I'd agree with all of the above posters though, they're all made in the same factory so just see who has the best deal on the day. Although it will probably be Citroen.

When did Toyota become a desirable brand...?! I'd sooner have a Peugeot any day.

Until quite recently Toyota were considered to be very reliable, wheras as with Peugeot the perception is that their electrical engineers used to work for Lucas.

I choose the Panda because it was cheaper to insure, better equiped and scores better in the consumer surveys. The basic 107/C1/Aygos are too basic.

However if you must have one then go for which ever dealer offers the best deal. Out of the three I think I would most like the Peugeut badge and I would least want a Toyota one but that is just me.
