How much electricity bill would be for 2 people?

Options
Hiya
I am looking for a new studio flat to move in Birmingham and wondering how much roughly electricity bill would be?

They said rent is inclusive water so i don't need to worry about that, we will need to pay council tax but i am a full time student so i can get reduction.
There is no gas in property and electricity is on a pre-payment meter.

There will be two people living and we just use usual things, like laptop, computer and xbox....

I will appreciate if you can help me, Thank you x

I suggest you initially budget for about £80 a month on average over the year, and you shouldn't go too far wrong.

However, as you are on pre-payment you'll obviously be paying as you go and we are just about to hit the most expensive time with heating on, so you may need perhaps up to £150 a month for the next 3-4 months ... but then it should start reducing as the heating is used less and less.
Anyway, by then you'll have a better idea of what you are using anyway :)

  • £150 a month for a studio flat? I live in a three bed house and spend £20 a month (not including heating)
My neighbour in a similar house spends £50 a month including heating.

No £80p.m. on average over the year. ;)

Of course it's bit like asking how long is a piece of string, but to suggest to a newbie that has no idea of energy costs that the could get by in the middle of winter on £20 a month is somewhat misleading at best - many people were pumping much more than £20 a week into their PPMs last winter in an attempt to keep warm.

    Are you on a PPM?

Edit: just seen your oil supplier thinks it's costing you the equivilent of £65 a month for what they supply you. ;)

£80 a month over a year would be good for an all electric place on a PPM. I had such a meter for a few weeks in the summer and found it fairly ate the money up. Would be worth your while checking out which is the cheapest supplier and changing before the winter really sets in. Some suppliers will give you a USB gizmo for paying over the internet which avoids having to trudge to the shops to get the key credited. I know British Gas do that but I don't know about others. Might be worth looking into though.
