Overpayments on oil

Hi, I know it's not moneysaving but I have set up a monthly DD with an oil company. I had ordered as one-offs three times and found them always to be the cheapest.
Anyway, I worked out my use of oil to be £40 a month but they estimated it to be £65. Not wanted to run short and have a bill for difference I upped my payment to £55. If my calculations are correct, how easy will it be to even out the payments? If, for example, next year I have a large amount of money stashed with them, will they let me put my payment down to say £30 to even it out?
The oil company is CPL
Thanks in advance.

Hi meatsweats - I'm afraid that you can't pedict your forward costs when buying heating oil, and neither can your supplier.
The world price of oil varies daily and it is priced $, also the exchange rate of Stirling to the $ also varies daily: If oil shoots up in price, but at the same time the £ rises against the $ it won't affect your oil price too much, but if the £ is falling against the $ ? .....Heaven help us.
Fixing a deal with one supplier is not the best way of doing things, you should really phone 4 or 5 local suppliers for their price on the day - CPL may well have been the cheapest on your past orders, but as sure as god made little green apples, that won't always be the case0
