December 2011 Wedding Planning thread :)

I cannot believe I'm about to say this but we have got a wedding planner!
I had steadfastly refused to have anything to do with them due to the probable costs, however having had to meet one last night in order to source a host for the ceremony, turns out they provide a very reasonable service.
Cermony Host
Flowers & Decorations
Photographer (200 photos on dvd and usb)
Camera man (90 minute edited dvd)
Make up for three
Wedding Supervisor
Audio and lighting bloke
I didnt really want all that stuff, but I had budgeted a few of the components for more than that whole package so I'm getting more for less, and more importantly, someone else is doing all the work!

Hen weekend was a BIG success. My amazing best friend/BM organised a huge cottage in the countryside (complete with Tesco food+booze delivery) for 12 of us. We had a pub lunch when we arrived, then all went down to the beach for a professional photoshoot! They'd all dressed in costumes of the way they met me (!) and made me dress up as a baby, complete with bottle filled with Tequila
Then back to the house for dinner and games and drinking and singing and dancing and general merriment. Next morning we had a lovely walk to a ruined castle while 3 pals made us a massive roast! Then a hairdresser came and did a hair rehearsal, and a friend did a make up trial. Then we just got very drunk and silly and ate our own body weight in cheese. All topped off with a first class train home with free sandwiches, scones and wine! Awesome.
The things I loved most were i) that all my friends had travelled, and most of them live miles from me so it was a real treat to see them, and ii) they had all brought an object and I had to guess who brought it and why, and each object related to a funny story - I got most right! and iii) I had secretly brought them all a wee gift too, and we all sat round while I told my favourite stories and laughed hysterically. My best friend is getting all the photo shoot photos plus everyone's own photos and making a DVD - I can't wait to see it!!
Hello December brides and grooms! Just lurking on your thread, if that's OK...
Dekazer, I will be describing your hen to my MoH - I LOVE the idea of hiring a house to stay in rather than stay in hotels/b&bs, and I hate the idea of going on a pub & club crawl with pink hats, L plates etc so yours sounds perfect! Glad you had such a good time :T

Excuse the crowing moment but
I GOT MY SHOES!!!!
I think I'm almost more excited about the shoes than the dress. Behold the beauty: http://www.irregularchoice.com/shop/womens/product/4353/windsor.html?offset=7
Hope you're all well

We just had our best weddingy weekend so far. OH now has a suit, shirt, tie and shoes (just needs pants and socks
) and we both have wedding rings! We went back to Hatton Garden and had breakfast in the same cafe as when we got our engagement rings, and then back to the same shop. We have matching rings and will be getting them both engraved too. I'm so excited now - only 33 days to go!
How're you all doing?0 -
Well our wedding is off

OH's mum has been fighting stomach cancer (for the second time) all year and sadly now there is nothing more that can be done for her. Today she is travelling back to their hometown 600 miles away in an ambulance as there is no other practical way of transporting her safely, I am flying to meet them tomorrow and staying for the week. OH will stay on until the inevitible happens.
There has been multiple plan changes over the past few weeks and the latest is to have a hastily organised bash next weekend for about 250 relatives  I tried to hint that it wasnt practical but apparently its what the MIL wants so we are going to plan for it. I very much doubt she will make it the week, let alone be able to attend, but its not the time or place for me to be protesting to much so im just going with the flow!
So just had final alterations to new suit which I pick up this evening then have to pack for a potential wedding for both me and OH (who has gone in the ambulance with just a handbag!) before running to the airport in the morning. And thats depending on whether American Airlines turn up with OH's lost luggage tonight :rotfl:

Oh God how awful, you must be tearing your hair out. Your poor fiancee, how terrible for her. I'm sure a chap of your obvious initiative and determination will sort out something she'll love.
Massive sympathy for all your in-laws-to-be in such sad times
Family's what really matters, far more than wedding frippieries and decorations. I hope the next few weeks are as painfree as can be hoped.

Lucy thank you for you kind post, sorry I am just getting back to you but has been a hectic week or so!
Somehow with an army of relatives, friends, neighbours and what seemed like half the town rallying around we managed to hold a reception for 180 people on Wednesday!
I dont think it was what we envisaged the perfect day would be like, but under the circumstances it turned out to be perfect for us. Havent got time to go into too many details at the moment but here's a few pics, collecting the professional ones tomorrow so hoping they are a bit better!
Breakfast of Kings!

Oh. My. God. Less than a week to go now.
I could not have been more pleased to wake up on Saturday to find a tax rebate cheque - HMRC are now funding our honeymoon spending, which is a nice unexpected treat!
I feel like I have a mountain to climb this week, but hopefully will be able to squeeze in a little bit of relaxation at some point. OH and I both have Thurs and Fri off work, so should be able to get all the final bits sorted.
Now I'm mostly worried about developing a massive pimple on my nose between now and Saturday! How're you all getting along Claire and VISCH?
