So far we have secured venue (church ceremony by candle light with carols) reception at a private school very old building beautiful ground and a steal on price. We are looking at caterers at the moment....
Table centres I am looking for something like this that I can do myself, jsut need help with the bead things hanging down... In the sale I brought packs of homemade crackers in silver reduced to 20p per pack (of 6)I brought the WHOLE shelf we are going to put a quiz on me and h2b in there instead of jokes, a chocolate and lottery ticket these will also doulbe up as place names. Thanks for the tip on the bangs things though I saw you could but these seperately in hobbycraft before christmas this year so will keep my eye open just incase...
I havent got there with my dress but sorted the bm's there are four of them and they live across the country so had to use christams time to get them to choose they are wearing midnight blue full length dresses. so colour scheme is basically midnight blue, silver and white...
Sorry if I am going on I promised H2B I wouldnt do anyhitng on the wedding until Jan this year so now gone a bit wedding crazy lol...

I like your pics - sorry I have no idea how to help :) but hope you get something sorted!

We've got table decs and name card holders sorted. I like to start with the small things :D On Saturday we went venue visiting and finished up more confused than when we started. We've got a few more to visit, and have definitely ruled a few out, but have both slightly fallen in love with one that's too expensive and impractical (not available until 18:00 on the day, so we'd have to find something else for earlier). *sigh*

How did you all make final decisions about venues? Did you go with 'the one' or did you force your head to rule your heart?!

Getting real now. I just made our appointment to give notice - I was hoping for next week but there was a 2 month waiting list! So we're going in in mid-April. DF got his Decree Absolute through last week, so we're all legal and ready to go :D

Also just about to make the provisional booking for registry office and registrar. Next will be the final decision about the venue and decor and caterers... We think we've found the right one but just need to check a few final things.

Oh! And yesterday my best friend (and sort of chief bridesmaid) emailed everyone about the hen, probably in October! W00t!

How are all you other December brides getting along? hope you're all having fun :):)

Hi all, I'm going to be a December bride, 17th to be exact. Church and reception venue are booked, just need to sort out the registrar.
Am planning a bit (lot) of a Christmas theme, for invites I'm using Christmas cards with inserts in, the Church will have all of the christmas flowers and the venue will have all its Christmas decorations up so that's all sorted.
Not started dress hunting yet (could do with losing some weight), but next task is sort registrar and finalise guest list so invites can go out. Think we're having 70 for the day and possibly up to 250 evening.

Ooh, same day as us. About the same numbers too. We didn't find a venue that was licensed that we liked, so are limited by numbers that the registry office can accommodate. Why don't they have bigger rooms?! *sigh*

Our appointment to give notice isn't till April and it feels like forever away!!

Tiny, when are you thinking of sending out save the dates? I just received one about 2 weeks ago for a wedding in June, but I'm just dying to get ours done and sent :rotfl:

And anyone else, any thoughts on milestone dates? E.g. when are you sending Save the Dates, invites etc...?
  • I don't think we'll do save the dates to be honest, as pretty much everyone already knows through facebook/workplace gossip (I'd never even heard of them before I saw them mentioned on here!) My plan is to get the invites out in the next month or so.

The best man is already well on the way with organising the stag do (which is october) and I think the hen party will be around the same time.
I'm going to have a look at dresses in the next few weeks with my mum, am slightly concerned that she'll try to get me into a traditional dress and I'm quite resistant at the moment. I don't mind trying one on but I have no intention of buying!

    Hi Ladies...

Can I join you, I'm also getting married on the 17th December!
We actually sent out save the dates with last years Christmas cards, that was just to give close family/friends fair warning.

Had a really good wedding day today, met up with the caterer and finalised what I want, all went really well, can have exactly what I want. Then we went onto the hotel I'm thinking about staying at the night before the wedding, it looks lovely, and again they were very flexible and happy to help with whatever they can :)
Then lastly me and my mum had a go at doing a bouquet for me, it actually went really well, which is good as it means I can save some money by doing my own flowers!

I think we are going to be sending invites out in about June, so 6 months before, I think that gives enough notice due to the time of year, but not too early.

We went and gave our notice on Friday, glad its one thing ticked off the list! Slowly getting through it :)

    Hi Ladies.

I'm a December 2012, so will be keeping an eye on this thread for ideas.
We are viewing 2 venues in the next 4 weeks, Rowton Castle and Tomahawk Woodlands. Both very different.
I have bought my daughters their dresses (aged 3 and 9, they are 1 and 6 now), bought them fur shrugs, bauble place card holders, and snowflake place cards, a snowflake guest book, scatter crystals...actually thats it..sorry now I sound like a Bridezilla!

Good luck with the planning ladies!

    'Lo all :)

Was having a wee panic this week so finally phoned up today and booked the registrar and paid the £50 deposit. At least now we have our date!! Now just need to finalise the reception venues.

Our latest decision is to take everyone to a restaurant after the ceremony, and then onto a much larger hall for the evening party. It's a compromise - fewer people to the ceremony and dinner means we can have a pretty much unlimited number to the evening, which is our preference. LOTS to organise though.

I am trying to make myself feel better by listing what I have achieved so far!

    • Booked to give notice
    • Booked Registrar
    • Booked the hotel for the wedding night (Got a 2 for 1 deal through the MSE weekly email, so we're actually staying for 2 nights!!)
    • Viewed and decided on the venues
    • Bought table decorations and place card holders
    • Arranged for fashion student cousin to make an heirloom bouquet :)
    • Given BM a list of invitees for the hen do
We have soooooo much more to do, but I'm sure we'll get there in the end!!

How are all you other December brides getting on?
