Look at you lot with your dresses! I think I've decided on a style for mine but will need to do some more research - think I'll be heading to http://www.vivienofholloway.com/en/page/ABOUT%20US/ for some inspiration soon!

I really need some more energy or hours in the day at the moment. We've got all 3 venues booked now but there are 3 fairly urgent tasks.. Paying the deposit to the restaurant to firm up the booking, going to the registry office to drop in our Certificate of Authority to Marry and paying the balance, and sending out save the dates. We're only doing electronic save the dates but I really want to get them done this week. We've been faffing about for too long now :)

    How're you all getting along?

    Deks xx

FINALLY I have got round to getting some Save the Date stuff prepared - having partially given up on the electronic idea. Mostly prompted by a big family gathering tomorrow (!) where we can give them out in person to lots of people to save postage :D

I've bought a load of brown parcel tags for 5p each, tiny wooden clothes pegs and tiny paper flowers on wire. When assembled they actually look pretty reasonable, and people can peg them somewhere to remind them throughout the year. I'm going to do a generic one too, then take a photo which we can email to evening-only people, to save some more money.

This evening we'll need to sort out the wording and get scribbling! It feels very real now!

So I kind of got sidetracked with the dress... and ended up with an entirely different one (twice the price but very me and very lovely).
We've done the registrar bit now as well, and I'm just about to order the invites off ebay.
Have also found the shoes I want to go with my dress, will go and buy those in a few weeks time.
Need to sort out the suits for OH and his best man, finalise the menu with the venue and book my hairdresser and make up.

Feels like things are finally coming together!

Oops, just posted this in the wrong forum :)

I was replying to a thread about Christmas anyway, so an easy mistake to make. I can't believe you're already booking hairdressers Tiny - you're sooo organised! well impressed. Still, we managed to get most of our Save the Dates out...

At the moment I keep repeating to myself *I must buy wedding insurance, I must buy wedding insurance* and not getting round to it. I think I'm going to go and do it now!

    Hope you're all well xx

Well I thought for hairdressers as the wedding is so near Christmas they are likely to get booked up with people going to christmas do's or similar so I'd best get in early. My hairdressers is small but fab, and fortunately it's only me and my bridesmaid having our hair done so it's not going to be too manic.

I'm still weirdly calm about everything (apart from the "how to pay for it" bit). Ordered the invites off ebay, which came to £40 in total for 90 day invites and about the same number of evening ones (although most people for the evening won't get direct invites but we'll put notices up at work and contact people through internal email).

Hiya, how's it going? All good here - we've finally managed to get Save the Dates to everyone (day and evening) so we've got a fair chance of people being able to come now at least :) I've also created postcards for Day invites and Evening invites on Vistaprint. I think I should manage to get 100 free, and then pay for 50 or so.. D'you all think that sending invites in Sept/Oct and asking for RSVPs by 11th November - for a wedding on Dec 17th - seems reasonable?

Still haven't been down to pay our Registrar. Still haven't booked a decorator for our hall. Still haven't been dress shopping. Still haven't bought any booze (apart from making blackberry brandy and vodka at home). The list is beginning to feel long and the time left is beginning to feel short. 116 days to go!!

We did book the honeymoon yesterday though, so no matter what else happens at least we know we've got a nice holiday to look forward to afterwards:beer:

    How're you getting along? xx

Well I am very impressed with Vistaprint. Having received hundreds of offer emails I finally ordered our invitations. I made two different postcards - one for the day time guests and one for evening guests. I used a photograph of the handmade Save the Dates, and added text over the top. I was pretty pleased with how they turned out.

Vistaprint printed and shipped them immediately, and although I chose a slower delivery, they arrived in about a fortnight. They look great and I am well chuffed. Total cost, including Post and Packing, was £10.32 - for 200 postcards! Awesome.

We also went to see the band who are playing - I hadn't seen them before but I loved them (thankfully). HTB used to play with them, and wants to do a couple of songs with them, so I think he was nervous in case they weren't my cup of tea - phew.

We have also booked a Routemaster for the transport - it wasn't that much cheaper than a normal coach in the end and HTB is well chuffed.

Aside from that we have got an appointment to meet a caterer next week who could do the evening buffet. Anyone got any good tips about nice evening food? I'm so underwhelmed by it all I can't seem to think past sausage rolls :rotfl:

I think I'm going to go dress shopping on 1st October, and I'm going to commission my friend to make a tiny hat to go with it! https://www.folksy.com/shops/LadySavage Another friend has kindly offered to pay a friend of hers to do my hair on the morning too, which is lovely - we're going to have a trial at my hen!

Oh, and finally, my Mum and I had a fantastic evening hunting out trinkets for my heirloom bouquet. She and my grandmothers have got really into the idea, so it'll be full of family items which I'm thrilled about.

A few things still to do...

Make final arrangements with the band
    Make arrangements for a decorator
    Book the evening caterer
    Buy new glasses
    Buy dress and accessories
    Assemble bouquet
    Buy alcohol for the reception
Er... Bound to be lots more!!

    How's everyone else getting along?
