these may be a strange questions but no one has asked what did you graduate in and what do you do for a living ? can you move to another job and earn more?
when i was first looking for a solution i moved for the same money but got a shift allowance which added about 25% to my total take home pay (so work the same number of hours for in effect more pay) can you go contract ? can you get a company car ( wait for the posts on car company car tax )
one other thing you say your freinds are doing better than you do you know that for real?
If they are using credit for things now they may be saving probs up for later life which if you continue this way you will not have0 -
When I was younger and in your position I took a bar job for a couple of nights a week. It provided me with extra income and a couple of nights out a week. If you pick the right place you can really enjoy your bar job plus getting to know a whole new group of people. Good place to get asked out too! I have also done waitressing (good for tips) and party plan which can be very lucrative and teaches you how to run a business. If you keep any of these to just a couple of nights you don't get fed up of the job or too tired.0

No you're not doing anything wrong, this is just life nowdays, but what i say is life is far too short to worry about it, just live it.0

hey. reply to brisck1
am new to site but not to money saving!
your £155 per month car loan, who is it with? i cant believe i took out a bad high interest loan on a car last year and it has now been changed saving me money!
the car place deals are notoriously high interest, could you instead maybe get a cheaper loan for outstanding balance on car? including the old faves such as interest free overdraft (up to £2000 avail from high st banks if you graduated in last 3 years)
also, maybe consider pay as you go mobile? if youve had contract 12 months its usually free to change to pas as you go and keep your phone. i saved lots doing this!
and your def not the only one! good luck0 -
To those who say the Joneses are all getting debt - my best mate gets £1900 a month from her ex-husband, if that were a wage it would be £30640! Plus she has a part time job so she is minted. Gets me down often, a she wants to go on hols to hotels and won;t consider anything cheaper, or wants to go out a lot, etc., and I have no-one else to go on hols with and feel crap having to say I can;t go out cos I have no money

I am currently 35 years of age. Three years ago I was debt free, had never possessed a credit card, but had no savings. I foolishly decided to apply for credit and take a few chances, which instead of generating an income has left me with £20,000 of debt. Although I have yet to default on any repayments, I am struggling to live. Of the £1000 net monthly salary, I am paying £300 on a 5yr loan (apr 6.9%), and another £210 just meeting the minimum repayments on two credit cards which I have taken to the max (£4000 and £3000). When you add the £215 keep I also pay, this is £725 out of the £1000 accounted for.
When I add the cost of running a car per month £95, the cost of food/drink £130 this takes me to £950, and with mobile phone/internet another £40, this leaves me with no money for things such as birthdays/christmas, dentists, clothes, papers, odd nights out, "sky", CD's, football etc. I realise I will have to make some sacrifices. I have not had a holiday for 4 years and am just about keeping my head above water at present. I appreciate that I will have to try and re-negotiate my repayments with my lenders to free-up some money for me to live on. Is it better doing this direct or somebody like the CCCS ?? Shall I prepare a statement of affairs and send them to my 3 creditors, and request they freeze the interest ? I read of a man with a £6000 debt having monthly repayments reduced from £150 to £5.
Any suggestions/advice would be welcomed. I do not have any dependants, and have been moved back with my parents to help save money. What is my best option(s) ?0 -
Thanks for all the feedback guys and gals !0
