10 owners in 10 years?! Dodgy or not?
After looking since end of August for a ideal car, i thought i had found one, 2001 Ford Mondeo Ghia X TDDI, £1500, Full Service History, New Clutch, low miles for the year(Guaranteed), all bells and whistles, or so i thought.
Spoke to the "Trade" Seller, and asked how many owners the car had had, and i was told 10, i nearly fell off me chair, then was told that there was a "unusuallly" high number of owner changers in 2004/05, then was told that they have seen brand new cars with 4 or 5 owners where the admin people in garages mess up names i.e
put miss instead of mrs, then put the wrong name in,etc, etc. The last owner has had it for 4 years.
To be honest it has been hpi checked, so is not a writeoff, nor is it on hpi, i am just really puzzled.
Strange thing is i really like the car, yet something is bugging me, as i walked away from a focus that had 6 owners in 8 years as i thought that was high!

I think I'd follow my instincts and give it a miss.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Send £2.50 to DVLA and they will tell you all the owners details. You'll probably find that half of the owenrs are probably garages taxing the car for customers. Or some spaz who changed the owners details from husbabd to wife etc.0

whats a friday night car?
Built on a Friday night before the workers go home so a dodgy job.
You see convertibles etc with high numbers of owners due to keeping it for 1 summer and selling on but not generally Mondeos.
There are plenty of them so you might want to keep looking.

The number of owners is irrelevant. It is the condition of the car that matters, nothing else.
My last car had 9 owners in 10 years.0 -

My last car had 9 owners in 10 years.
It isn't irrelevant. There is a reason it has had such a high number of owners and this should be confirmed before being purchased.
The best thing to do OP is get the names and find out why they got rid.0
