How do you keep your dogs off the sofas?!?

I have given up and just put a vet bed on the sofas. They choose to lay on that as its warm and fluffy and they arent overkeen on the leather. Also a vet bed on the floor in front of the fire, they also choose to lay on that a lot too.
I also put a dog blanket on the end of the bed as one likes to sit there looking out of the window and barking at anyone on bikes or wearing helmets, or grass cutters or basically anything actually

Ha - that made me laugh! I may have come up with a solution... If I turn the house upside down so to speak & move the front room upstairs, then he wouldn't be able to get up because of the stairgate! Reckon it would work?!?
I don't think I can hang on til Friday...0 -
he'll be on your bed

Normally my dog is only allowed on the sofa on a duvet which is hers, we let her on as a puppy then decided not to let her on as she was getting hair everywhere and being white you can see it easily on everything, so we used to put the irnong board on the sofr when we went out that stopped her getting up and she has a bed anyway whcih she can sleep in, but we felt mean so decided she could come on when the duvet is on, and she sleeps on the sofa on the duvet all night now aswell lol
One time last week the cheeky madam got on with no duvet!

I saw this on a programme, so not sure if it works with dogs, but to put cats off climbing on things this woman used foil, as the cats hated walking on it. Might be worth thinking of something like that or trying foil to leave on the sofa.
We never allowed ours on the sofa and I'm glad as there'd be no room for me know he's grown!0 -
I like the idea of the ironing board - I may just give that a go! Can't see the tinfoil working though - would be a bit of a nightmare "wrapping" the sofas up every time you go out & then remove the foil when you get back... It's along the ideas I was hoping to hear though, I was thinking there might be something dogs hate the smell of (without it being offensive to humans lol!) or something like that. I thought I once heard something about cats or dogs not liking citrus smells...?I don't think I can hang on til Friday...0

You can get baby gates that will fit odd shaped arches etc - http://www.babydan.com/default.aspx?id=1073&recordid1073=85
Try shopping around on the web, or freecycleI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Maybe I'll have to invest in A BabyDan, guess there's only 2 options - that or giving up! It's hard to say no to this:

And look how put out he is when I tell him to get in his own bed!
Your dogs are absolutely gorgeous btw Next Verse! That's what my little boy would like, but I think they need to much walking - a bulldog fits better in to my lifestyle...I don't think I can hang on til Friday...0
