i think that its sad that peoples heads get bitten off when offering help or services...the guy hardly put a gun to anyones head and said BUY THIS or else he merely suggeseted him, like myself i could post the same stuff and put my email in the hope i get business...i know what im doing i have space to offer and time? i have this in my sig and its true i will help if people ask
i think the majority of people here have the sense to decide for themselves how they do stuff and there has been enough other posts showing alternatives...i dont see the problem!0 -
I have absolutely nothing to gain from my original post. Over the last few years I've simply found some good resources that I was happy to share. I hope it helps.0

There is no need to pay for shopping cart software - check out http://www.oscommerce.com/ - it is really good and easy to use and includes loads of great features to help you manage an online business.
It is always worth taking look at all the free open source software available at http://sourceforge.net/
Cheers

Before I bow out of this thread. I will explain why I picked up on the link for hosting.
One thread was started by the OP on another board. In this, he gave a link to a 'bargain'. He never mentioned that he owned the site that he had linked to. In a couple of other posts. The OP replied to messages that directed people to another site that he owns. I see these have now been dealt with by AbCon.
When I came accross the link between the OP and the fact that he built this hosting site then offered it for sale. My thoughts were that he was using this as an opportunity to generate traffic to sites that he owned or had a connection to. This is against the rules on this forum. I like this site the way it is. It would be a shame to see it degenerate into a free for all advertising space.
That's the reason I picked up on the link. It was not part of any personal malice. Just a desire to see this forum continue in it's present form. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

You do not need to buy any of the tools mentioned you can get them all for FREE. The only things you need to buy in terms of getting a website are:
1. Domain Name
2. Hosting
I will post later on tonight when i have a bit more time on the free tools that can be used.0 -
Amazing. I tried to post about good tools that work and are simple. To get a professional looking site out of OScommerce is not simple. I use OSc but, from experience I wish now that I'd have bought xCart, it would have saved me a lot of time and money for adaptations to OSc.
I really don't mind about where folks choose to host. The guy I gave the name hostingduo to is worth his weight in gold for support. My own hosting is with Clook Internet not because it's the cheapest but because it is the best host I could find with UK servers. As a web professional I use much bigger servers than most people need. Yes, there are cheaper and even free hosting options.
I have NOTHING to gain from my original post. As you'll see below I am an online jeweller, that's it. I sell good quality jewellery at good prices, that's what I do. I don't get commissions or anything from any of the links that I provided in the original post. I posted 3 years of learning what is great value when it comes to building web sites and I hope it saves some people the learning curve that I had to go through.
My reputation and integrity are very important to me and I am more than open to any scrutiny. Ask me anything that you like and I'll give you a straight and honest answer.
Regards
Malcolm Cooper

Well I found it very easy and it provides a superbly professional look and feel (though yours does look good too).
I'd recommend it to anyone to try as it is free and good !To infinity and beyond!0
