No, having a parking option at your registry is a good thing if you ever have a problem with your host - that's all.
  • I wonder why else you would recommend the site for hosting. They are certainly not the best price for hosting, and the present owner hasn't even taken the time to fill out any background for the company. Looks very dubious to me.
    What a suspicious bunch! :D

Paul Nichols is a programmer, full time on the internet and living in Montana. We have become friends by working together over the past 3 years. I had registered the name hostingduo and never used it so I gave it to Paul.

The original intention of the post was to provide a really easy guide to getting a web site up and running. It has now degenerated into suspicion of my motives over the single issue of hosting and I'm both hurt and insulted. No appreciation or positive comment on the rest of the content, just a slagging off and the suggestion that I have something to gain.

Hosting with Paul Nichols costs $9.95 per month (about a fiver). For that you get personal access to one of the best and most helpful programmers I know. However, you may not need to pay for hosting at all, you may have free space with your ISP, your choice.

You could build a PayPal store for a one off price of $30 (about £17) and host with Paul for a fiver a month. An eBay shop costs £30 per month plus listing fees and it's not yours!!

You could equally save a fiver a month and struggle on your own with a £20 per year hosting deal.

Now what is the score? I shared my knowledge free and gratis to have a few folks pick bits out to snipe about and insult my integrity.

Once again, I don't feel you are being completely truthful with us. First of all I'll point everyone to here http://www.cre8asiteforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=2682 Then I'd point everyone to here http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=161576

It doesn't look like you only registered the name then gave it away. These are friendly forums and it's a shame that some people feel the need to take advantage of them.

Hmmm, I'm unsure whats happening here but I would like to say thanks to the OP (Malcolm ) for his post. I knew nothing about building a web site before this post but I have now gained some ideas on how to start.
Many thanks also to the other posters.
  • Has anyone any experience of BTs Internet trader pack?

I owned hostingduo.com and I considered doing hosting services myself. I decided against it. Paul Nichols asked if he could have the domain name and I gave it to him.

    ANYTHING ELSE ?????
  • I have to say I'm ashamed to British sometimes! I'm an active and respected member of a number of forums around the world but never before have I encountered such suspicion, cynicism, paranoia and downright insulting behaviour.

On an American forum if I posted 9 pieces of good information and one not so good they'd thank me for the 9.

Do the same in the UK and get ripped to shreds for the one. How typically British!

I posted here to genuinely help people who want to get themselves on the internet without it costing them a fortune. A lot of what I posted has cost me time and money to learn.

It's thrown back in my face and I'm treated like some sort of scamster. I am appalled and ashamed.

Moderators, do me a favour and delete the thread as it is not appreciated.

And loafer, please learn to spell the word "lose" it's only 4 letters to remember, and btw, they won.
  • The problen is that there are so many dodgy ones on the net its difficult to weed them out. Wev'e all become rather paranoid. Although i have a current site with 1&1 I might well use your information. Ta.
Down south where, unfortunately, the government does remember us.

This is so true, and with all the affiliate payments and cheap reseller packages ebay is covered with scammers with accounts lasting 2 months or so if your lucky. Hence my helpfullnes by posting a couple of cheap but proper companies.
