  • I am still stuck in a Pay Monthly contract with Vodafone which I pay £15 per month for, they have made quite a few errors and although I have contacted the comms complaints and told that I have every right to cancel the contract they still keep me on it. it's driving me crazy! now am paying additional £26 a month for my Orange phone Pay Monthly as had to get another phone due to Vodafones mess up. not getting anywhere fast, but feel like asking them for a refund!!!

Just called Sky and my refund was £1.56 - probably around the cost of the phone call. They're sending me a cheque :p. Would've been nice if it was worth more haha.

Just phoned Orange. I left them in October 2011. They told me that any credit would be deposited in my bank account when the final bill was generated. To this end I left the direct debit for them alone. After a while I noticed that the Orange direct debit had disappeared from my account and what with one thing and another thought no more of it UNTIL MArtin's email today!

Me: I am ringing to see if I have any credit on my account
Orange: yes you have £6.12, this should have gone into your bank account.
Me: well I didn't receive any money from you
Orange: Did you cancel the direct debit?
Me: No, as I was waiting to receive the money from you I left the direct debit on my account
Orange: Either you or the bank must have cancelled the direct debit
Me: I know how the banking system works, organisations like yourselves have the power to cancel direct debits. Please can you send me a cheque instead?
Orange: I'm afraid we don't issue cheques.
Me: Ok, so how do I get my money back?
Orange: we need current bank details so we can put the money directly into your account
(After giving bank details)Me: when will it go in?
    Orange: 12th June

watch this space people, fingers crossed....
Just goes to show you how devious these companies are at trying to hold onto to YOUR money!

He never once argued with me, which to me is a sure indicator of someone who knows they are in the wrong.

    Good luck folks!

update on 13th July - got my refund yesterday

  •  Good luck to anyone who used to be with Talktalk!!! I made two calls quoting name, address, phone number AND account number only to be told that they didn't have any details on any of the above!!! I was telling the woman why I'd rung and rather than listen to me she rang off leaving me with an automated voice asking how I rated the service, needless to say my answers were negative!!!
If you have an account number beginning with a letter ... beware, they are saying that their account numbers have 000 or 111.
We were very good customers of theirs until we moved home and then the fun started, you've probably heard it all before? 'You have to ring BT because the number was theirs in the first place...when you ring BT they don't have the number saying that you aren't a customer of theirs and on and on and on and....' Rubbish!!! We wrote countless times by recorded delivery and were ignored, we went through Otelo then and at the end of it we didn't receive a thing NOT even an apology!!!

Talktalk, you are a disgrace and if you'd like to get in touch with me regarding anything I've written please feel free, I'm telling the truth here.
  • I always read Martin's tips and try them out...but I was absolutely convinced that there was nothing in applying to my old mobile provider for a refund. I was sure it was all sorted when I changed providers 2 years ago.
Well how wrong can you be - I got a small cheque for £3.56 in the post today. It's not going to pay my mortgage, but did teach me that it's worth asking a question.
  • Giffgaff say no refunds of unused credit - this has to be a massive money making scam for the phone companies and should be stopped
  • Tried Three as well and they refuse to give me back my money so best give it to a worthwhile cause then rather than leave it in their coffers:
"Got unused mobile phone credit - give it to Macmillan Cancer Support. Text: MOBI99 £(how much you want to give) to 70070"

I just checked through old accounts with Sky, BT and 02.
Found out I had a £15.00 credit balance on one Sky account, £2.53 on another and £4.99 on a BT account.
Fairly easy to get it sorted out and refunded - both BT and Sky are sending a cheque out today and still waiting for O2 to respond.
This is small beer  but still worth doing! Thanks Martin and the team.

Does this include prepaid line rental with TalkTalk? I've previously been advised by the TalkTalk rep on here that if you leave before the 12 months that you have paid for upfront are up, you don't get a penny back - just wondering if that's correct..?
I don't think I can hang on til Friday...
