    Happy New Year all.

Ok, Let's get cracking! £21.84 rounding up OP gone out with regular mortgage payment.

£3 from surveys on it's way and a £9.99 cheque waiting to be paid in to my account are my only forseeable payments left for January but I do have stuff to ebay and hopefully any craft stuff I can sell.

January daily budget is on track despite me buying some new saucepans. I think petrol will be the killer with the daily budget this year though. I put £4 in the £2 coin jar yesterday.

DH and I were talking about moving house and think we may put it off until this time next year. As we will have so much more equity/savings and be in a better position to choose the house we want and it will give us some money to play with. I'd like to have £25-30k in equity/savings before we move ideally.

Right, I'd better do some housework. DS2 is stil in his pj's watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, DS1 is in Milton Keynes spending his Christmas money with my mum, DH is back at work and I'm working tonight. The boys are back at school tomorrow so we can get on with life!

    Morning! Early isn't it?

Quite few days for me, not much money saving going on but then again not much spending either.

I did a mystery shop this week and sold some of my book stands as I have definitely given up doing Usborne now. I just won't fit it in with the new job. Once I recieve payment for those it will be another £45. I think I might be able to put aside £20 from daily spends this week. Not bad as we bought a saucepan set and I got the DS2 a new t shirt and DS1 some new boxers.

I did have to invest in some new shoes - usually a favourite hobby of mine but these were boring shoes for my new job. I wanted proper lace up Dr Marten shoes as they will last for ever (I'm a nurse so practical!) We have a factory shop in a nearby village so I got £20 off. I haven't allocated the money from those from daily spends yet. I will balance it from the daily spends over the month. With the shoes, breakfast club fees and car parking I have to fork out £120 before I even get paid for this job! It makes you realise how difficult it would be for someone on benefits to actually make the transition into work.

I'm glad the children have gone back to school! I feel like I have had a normal week now. It's going to be chaos next week though. I am working 8.30-5 everyday, I haven't worked full time since 2008 so it will be a bit of a shock. I still have to take the youngest to breakfast club (£7.50 for the week) and pick him up from the babysitter (my mum fortunately - she's free!).

I sound really spoilt, don't I? I know I'm lucky not having to work full time but I did it when both boys were little so I don't feel bad about not doing it now!
  • Well last week went ok. I cannot believe how much it has cost me before I even started work. £89 on childcare, car parking, shoes and a watch and then half a tank of petrol on top of that!

I started my job properly yesterday and it was really interesting but I have so much learn. It's really different to anything I have done before! Looking forward to payday though!

I've been able to put a some coins into the copper jar and the £2 though. I received got £70 for selling old stuff last week. As soon as that hits my account I will pay that off the mortgage. I have paid in £9.95 from Joe Browns too as I got a refund on some dodgy leggings.

I haven't saved as much as I would have hoped this month but I have had a lot of one off. My car is being serviced/MOT today so I hope that nothing needs doing, and I need to sort out home insurance today as that expires on Feb 1st.

So much to do so I'd better get on!

I am so rubbish at updating my diary and reading other peoples, I wish I wasn't! I'm loving my new job and I have spent a lot of time reading up around the subject, I ran the clinic yesterday without any problem which has built my confidence.

Januarys mortgage OP wasn't as much as I had hoped but we had a lot of expense, the new laptop, house insurance and the car service. A year ago that would have all gone on the credit card and I wouldn't have overpaid anything so I have to remind myself of my acheivements.

February should be good though! I got paid today from all my December work and from my new jobs so I'm feeling flush. DH got a bonus at work so I am expecting a really big (in my terms!) OP in February.

Budgetting per day is going going really well. I'm pleased I decided to do it as it's working out much better than weekly. I'm saving all the coppers and £2 coins from the cash. Not sure how much I have saved there.

Had a bit of a spend at the weekend as it was DH's birthday, we went to a show in London, had a nice meal and did a bit of shopping, nothing extravagant but an amazing day. We didn't take the children and sat in the pub in the afternoon! :rotfl:I can't remember the last time I did that.

We have decided we are definitely going to try to move this year so we are seeing the advisor next week to see what our options are. So excited!

  • Great news about the job Caroline, goodluck withsaving the pennies for february o/p :D
Credit card £4461.15Home mortgage £137117Buy to let mortgage £83,000
  • I'm feeling low :(

Lots of houses in my area seem to have popped up for sale but for less than we owe on our mortgage. I thought that the house was worth slightly more, not much more but still more.

There isn't anything I can do about that though so I will try nor to dwell on it and plod on with the overpayments. I am hoping to overpay at least £1600 this month as hubby had a bonus.

I have been trying really hard to get the house ready to go on the market. Yesterday I 'freecycled' some bits. I did have them ready for a car boot but they were getting on my nerves, cluttering up the house.

I'm trying to do one room at at a time. Yesterday I did the hallway. I cleared all the coats and shoes to create space downstairs, shampooed the carpets and washed the rugs. A few small jobs need doing in the hall, the bannisters need repainting and I need to replace door handles as they all rattle a bit. The walls are a bit grubby (cream paint seemed like such a good idea!) so I need to either clean those or paint them again.

I'd better catch up with some surveys. I did get a book and a bluray last week from surveys I was going to ebay them but the got nabbed by the family!
