Update on Mam:
My brother, sister and I went down to the care home to see Mam at 2 pm, as the deputy Doctor is on duty from 2 pm on a Monday. Mam was asleep when we got there, sort of slipping in and out of sleep. She would look like she had woke up then just drift off to sleep again. We got the odd response from her, but she did not speak. The doctor arrived on the unit at 3 pm, and we just sat talking until she came to see Mam about 4.30 pm. she agreed to give Mam her salbutamol four times a day from now on, and to watch her more closely
Only five minutes beefore the doctor arrived, Mam woke up properly and was answering us fully and asking questions herself. After the doctor had been, Mam had half a sugar and cream filled milk-shake, plus a half of a jelly. After we added some ice cream to the jelly, she ate the rest. Oh, and she had a quarter cup of tea. Shortly afterwards the nurse came round with her liquid paracetamol and put the salbutamol nebuliser on her, remembering to use the socket from the actaul rise and fall bed rather than the airflow mattress. When it was finished, we switched off the nebuliser and plugged the bed back in. Mam seemed a lot more relaxed after this, and we sat with her, joking a little, until she looked like she would sleep. Oh, about 5 pm, a carer came in with her dinner (mashed potato with pureed minced beef & gravy) and, with our encouragement and the nurse feeding her, she ate the lot, though she twisted her face at it after each spoonful!! We left about 6.30 pm, when she was getting sleepy again
So now we have to see how she is tomorrow and if there is an improvement
Oh and I popped down to the later slimming class than the one my neice goes to to get weighed, and I'd lost 2 lbs, making a total loss of 4 st 6 lbs :j :j very pleased with that :j :jMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

So, the story so far - part nine (long overdue but I hope you can appreciate the reasons why):
So, after contaqcting CCCS and getting advice from them, I started straight away, typing up letters for creditors offering them £1 token payments for 6 months until our priority debts were up-to-date. I worked on my financial statement, which, now it included EVERYTHING, left us with £8 per month we needed for token payments of £1 to each of them. I now realised why my previous efforts had not worked. I had not allowed for things that weren’t paid monthly, like car tax, car repairs, vet’s bills, emergency fund, clothes, entertainment, opticians, or dentists. So when one of these cropped up, the budget suffered and along came Peter & Paul again ......... bang goes all the good intentions and things didn’t get paid.
It’s odd isn’t it? And I’ve seen it time and time again, that the bills that take the hit are the rent/mortgage, fuel, water – they seem easier at the time to cancel the direct debit or let them bounce and incur charges – now why is that I wonder? Is it because the rent is the highest bill and they money doesn’t actually stretch that far? Is it timing? Or, in some perverse way, are we more frightened of the banks and loan companies than the council, utilities and landlord? Whatever it is, it does seem to happen to lots of people. Until they seek help from the right place that is – from MSE and then CCCS, NationalDebtline/Cab etc – and then doesn’t it all make sense? When you do a proper SOA with everything included, with allowances for those things that normally mess up your carefully planned budget, it all becomes so clear. Now why didn’t I think of that, you ask yourself? ‘Cause we is stupid? No, we just lack the knowledge needed – and the confidence too of course. That’s what MSE and the debt charities supply – the information we need and the support which gives us the confidence we so desperately require. Everyone with debt problems need these or they wouldn’t be in this mess would we? No matter how successful or otherwise we are in our personal and professional lives, none of it counts for anything where finances are concerned and, in particular, were debt is concerned. Anyone can fall into this trap – you don’t need to be made redundant, be on benefits, have a traumatic event in your life – you might just get in too deep and get carried away. However we reach that out-of-control stage, we all then become equal. We are all looking for the same information, advice and support. Debt is a great leveller isn’t it?
And so, back to the letters, all sent recorded delivery – mind you, that is a big expense when you ain’t got any money isn’t it? £1.14 for each and every letter you send! It’s got to come out of your budget somewhere. It’s especially expensive when they just ignore your letters, and you have to send them again and again. But at least I felt more in control, actually doing something positive for a change ................
