chances are then that it applies to other policyholders as well then seeing as so much of the process is automated.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). She received a letter today demanding the return of the certificate. They can certainly have it but not until the day after the policy expires; why do they want it back ?
I believe this was part of the question..
Why do they want it back, which I answered.
I dont have a soft spot for Aviva or any insurance company for that matter but considering they are one of the biggest insurance companies and this is an insurance forum I would imagine that mentioning Aviva from time to time would be acceptable.I am an Insurance & Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Didn't realise you were actually posting your answer to galba!
Seeing as his question was answered comprehensively by a number of people 3 weeks ago, it was reasonable to assume you were answering the current point raised today by Nato about poor service from Aviva, otherwise why post defending their service?
If you don't have a "soft spot" for aviva, then why recommend them to people looking for a good company?
As you come here and tell us you are a broker, and in other posts encourage us to use brokers, it's a pity you couldn't pass on your knowledge of the company and instead of encouraging us to contact them, in fact warn us against using them!0 -

To be honest... Aviva are not that bad. Thats just my opinion based mainly on underwriting and dealing with them as a broker. The products they sell are very good, their underwriters are flexible and they will cover most risks, for a broker this ticks all the boxes. I dont have any experience with dealing with them as a customer so most people on here are far better placed to answer service related question than me. It is quite apparent they dont do very well in the service department!
For me the most important thing about an insurance company is the cover they provide and their attitude to claims, although service is important an insurance company really earns its money when sorting out a claim.
There are plenty of insurers I would not recommend and should someone ask an opinion on one of these I would not hesitate to warn against them.I am an Insurance & Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Dunno how you can posibly have come to your conclusion.
Their attitude to claims stinks, their admin stinks, they definitely don't earn their money or any respect sorting out claims! (Asprea!!!)
I guess they pay you your commission OK though?0 -

I can only speak on personal experience and as an Insurance Company I have found them to be good. I think that direct customers do have a different experience to that of broker customers. I'm not saying that just because I'm a broker but Aviva Direct and Aviva Insurance (broker arm) do act like two seperate companies. The advantage I would have over a direct customer is having the ability to speak to decision makers as opposed to a call centre.
When it comes to insurance companies and which is the best or worse people opinions always differ. Insurance can be very emotive espcially if you had a bad experience. I have had more good experiences than bad with Aviva.I am an Insurance & Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. You are privileged! What number do you ring?
Despite your experiences they are the worst company of the lot when it comes to complaints!
