Tried Natwest (no longer bank with them), HSBC a few years back and Lloyds. Lloyds is a clear winner with me, all account information is on the screen in large font and clear so you can see all the balances plus bright colours! Click of a button and all the information you need is there for each account...cant beat it! :)

I have been banking with most of UK high street banks. About Internet Banking (IB):

    - I will put HSBC on the top and
    - SANTANDER on the bottom (I also still have access to A&L/Santander)

I find HSBC is easy to navigate, you could easily get online help if there is a problem with IB by calling them.

    SANTANDER on the bottom because:
    1. Some products such as Their Regular Saver Account (RSA) can not be seen on on the IB. Their argument is that people are not allowed to transfer money from RSA. Therefore if RSA was on the IB people would be able to transfer it to other account which is not allowed. For me, this argument is just an excuse of IT incompetency. Most of UK high street banks offering the same product will be able to show such product on the internet banking.
To avoid people to do IB transfer from RSA it could easily be sorted by setting the rule on the IB arrangement, e.g. blocking it/not allowed to do it in the first instance.

    2. If you want to see your credit card statement, you need to open another website.

Apart from their customer service which is sometimes not quite friendly (if you did not get the right person on the phone) IT incompetence is their other main weakness.

A lot of people in this forum are also complaining about their FPS which could "Receive" but can not "Send" or if they do send it is very unreliable.

But the thing I like with Santander is because their products are very competitive in term of Interest Rate. This is the only thing that make me stay there.

Im surprised theres no votes for Intelligent Finance, and It links with their "I saver" to park any money and get a fair rate of interest.. Never had any problems, excellent online service.

I'm happy with First Direct. Good phone service to back up internet.

I like the £250 permanent interest-free loan on their current a/c too, but their savings a/c interest rate is rubbish, though they're not alone in that.
However hard up you are, never accept loans from your friends. Just gifts

I use First Direct, Natwest & Halifax. Halifax online system is my favorite as it's very easy to operate. Transfers & payments work like a dream. Natwest system is the safest out of these 3, so sometimes a bit fiddly. But it can store up to 7 years of statements and that's really useful. First Direct is ok but I really don't like the way how it manages my standing orders and direct debits.

First Directs IB is quite basic. Not the best anymore. That said you can just call them and ask them to do it for you 24/7 heh.

Genuine question: what online facilities am I missing-out on by being a FD customer?
