  • These are decent quality pans.

    We got a set for an engagement present approx 11 years ago and they've been in daily use ever since. Used the steamer about once though :-)

    All cookware and pans have an extra 20% of at the moment at Robert Dyas instore so managed to get a set for £31.99. However 20% did not automatically come off, so checkout girl had to override the till. She did try to fob me off saying £39.99 was the price with the discount but I took her outside and showed her the display in the window showing normal price of £39.99 and then a sign above advertising 20% off last marked price.

    Errr.. the Robert Dyas near me has the 20% off, but the poster shows a "before" price of £49.99 (not RRP, that's a before offer price) in the bottom left hand corner, so with 20% off it's £39.99....doesn't say "last marked price" either. :confused:

    There are two different Vista sets - the draining option with steamer (product code 138204) is £39.99 before discount and the other set (product code 131090) is £49.99 before any discount. Both boxes look identical apart from pictures of the pans. I hope this clarifies matters - have a look on the website to see what I mean. Note there is no 20% discount for ordering online.

    Try using it for veg, instead of boiling - carrots, broccoli, spinach, etc - Tastes better and I think you lose less vitamins (which leech into the water when you boil veg). I use the steamer almost daily - couldn't live without it and when the water is boiling in the pan below it only takes a few minutes to cook stuff - 3 or 4 minutes for broccoli, 5 -6 for carrots, 1 or 2 minutes for spinach etc.

    Excellent service from Robert Dyas. Ordered Sunday morning, processed Monday 0923, with Citylink 1230, at local depot (N Scotland) Tues 1115 and in my hands 1425. :T

    I want to use the milk pan as a saucepan, it is after all a 14cm without a lid, so e-mailed Horwood Tuesday night and got a reply back 1015 Wed quoting £5.50 inc p+p for the draining lid. This is cheaper than the standard lid price exc delivery from many on line suppliers. Might also get an extra 20cm lid to give more flexibility with the steamer.
  • A couple of people on the Old Style forum have also recommended this set from Marks and Spencers: http://www.marksandspencer.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=7935&Product_Id=1900588

    3 Stainless-Steel Saucepans
    £9.50

    Product code: T340150C

    Perfect as a starter set, these great value pans are made with durable and non-corrosive stainless steel

    * Tempered glass lids
    * Dishwasher safe

    * Small pan: D16cm, 1.3 litre capacity
    * Medium pan: D18cm, 2 litre capacity
    * Large pan: D20cm, 2.7 litre capacity

    Sounds like a bargain for £9.50, there is a steamer and a stockpot available for £9.50 each as well. There is also a code for free delivery on orders over £30 + Quidco.com cashback too.......
