I wonder if anyone can help me please.
I recently bought a second hand samsung notebook for christmas for my daughter (we are broke!).
The laptop requires a login and password which the seller provided and works fine....however when i have come to add programs for her it says that i can't because I don't have administrative privilages!! I have tried re-contacting the seller to no avail and am not technical enough to have a clue what to do now!!
Any help or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Full model number? You should really run a Factory Restore if you have bought it from someone else, in order to personalise it for your own usage.
For now: Administrator0 -
That's sound advice from Donnie and I would echo it.

Hi it is an N120 i clicked on system restore but i 'don't have sufficient security privileges to restore the system'
I have tried using administrator as a login and password in various combinations but it doesn't work - only the login and password that the seller gave me works!!
thanks for having a go!!0 -
You are confusing System Restore and Factory Restore-they're not the same thing. The latter sets it back to it's 'as new' condition and wipes all your personal data. The former sets it back to a specific date and only affects system files, not data files.
Have you tried accessing the Admin account from within Contro Panel>User Accounts without using a password-just pressing Return? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi it wont let me do anything on 'user accounts' cause i am not an administrator, tried logging in with no password but no luck!!
How would i do a factory restore then please....i have no idea...this technical stuff is mind blowing to me!0 -

Does it have a recovery partition on the hard drive? Maybe press f4 on startup or whatever screen says.0

Let's hope the seller didn't try to install another OS before they sold it to you, so as to make your Recovery Partition unusable.
Hopefully ddoris's suggestion will work for you. Were you supplied with discs for the machine?0 -
Can you try the recovery options with Windows ?BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!
