    Please stop this childishness and reporting each other's posts - we really don't have the time or resource to deal with something so unnecessary. If you don't like the advice each other gives to posters, plus use the "ignore" function to block the other posters comments.

  • Hi, nothing happens when i press F4, i can't find a recovery partition (looked on c and d drive). there is a samsung recovery solution icon on desktop but i do not have the authority to use it!!!!
    It is running xp but it doesn't have a cd/dvd drive and no disc.
    if anyone else ever buys a second hand computer please please check that you are an administrator.......this is doing my head in.

    Doesn't have a CD drive!? How old is this machine-which model? All laptops built in the last ten years or so have an optical drive.
    Or did you mean a netbook, not a notebook?
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Try the recovery options; the first option will do.

    OK. At the risk of being pedantic, what you have purchased is a netbook (low powered small laptop with no optical drive). A notebook is just another word for a standard laptop. Hope you can get it sorted.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    To be fair to the OP, they did state the model number in post #4.
