I only ask because watching a comparison video on Which.com, it suggested that macs do not. I quote - "it doesn't have the security concerns such as viruses that windows laptops do"

The video is correct, at 90%+ of the market [ Winblows ] PC's or Laptops get more than macs, the video is telling the truth.

    Hope this helps

yes they get Mac Viruses but not effected by PC Viruses, so makes me wonder if Apple are not useing their machines to infect Windows in some childish revenge

It is easier to infect a Mac with a virus than it is a PC. The reason the virus writers don't target Macs is because they are so small in number, and virus writers want to get noticed by infecting millions of PC's rather than thousands of Macs.

    That is the only reason.

Its not easier to infect a Mac with a virus than a PC. Just have a virus protector and you will be fine. I myself have a Mac and have never had a virus. Where with my PC my virus detector often finds viruses hidden within so called Shareware files. Also run a Malware scanner on both. Again I have never had a piece of Malware on the Mac but the scanner on the PC often alerts me to things just from visiting websites.

A Mac is much safer than a PC believe me.

The Mac is safer because nobody is writing viruses/malware etc for Macs. The operating system is much much easier to break into than Windows, it's just that people don't bother with them.

So therefore Macs are safer than PC's :)

Just because you've been driving everywhere at 100mph without crashing doesn't mean driving at 100mph is safe ;)

The risk facing Windows is greater, but so are the systems in place to manage the risk. Do remember that third party cross platform software such as Mozilla Firefox, iTunes, Quicktime, Adobe Flash, Adobe Acrobat etc are all frequently exploited.

Smarter internet browsing habits should be more important.

Was about to say, I haven't had a virus on my computer in as long as I remember. And no I don't bother with shitloads of worthless antispyware software that does nothing but tell me its cleaned my cache of all the data I wanted stored, just a single antivirus software program that asks me whenever anything needs to connect to the internet.

My mum on the other hand, gets hold of a PC opens every e-mail from every spammer and boom gets a virus within 6 months...

she wants to use a better email provider that will catch the spam and send it to the junk folder (gmail is very good and also hotmail seems to work well now they have updated).

also dont use a program like outlook, live mail or thunderbird, and the junk email wont be downloaded to the pc, use the web interface as all the junk is contained in the cloud.
