Anone else save with Freedom and doing it for themselves not through an agent?
Even if you saved for yourself you will be classed as an agent, I had vouchers with Farepak & Freedom, I just keep quoting my account numbers for both accounts on all my emails, letters etc, you should get the same claims forms soon.
Good luck0 -
Hello i am new to this site can you please tell me i paid farepack £500 with Lloyds TSB cheques are the banks paying any money back for their customers who used cheques.
Thanks Jenny.0 -
Sorry Jenny,
the trend seams to be the only refunds being paid are if you paid with a debit or credit card, one person has had some of their direct debit payments repaid, but no one has confirmed any refund from paying with cheques.
Your best option is to ring your bank and ask to speak to someone who deals with cheque payments then explain everything, if you odnt get any where call into your local branch, that seems to be working, more personnal level.

Not all payments made by Visa debit cards are being repaid, the reason given is that if you made the payment through a third party, ie the Post Office then this is classed as a cash payment. Therefore, a chargeback claim does not apply and no refund will be given. I am fighting my bank (A&L) on this and will continue until it reaches the Ombudsman. I have also copied in my MP and the local paper.
will keep you informed of results.0 -

Not the real “national emergency”
But and it’s a huge big but, the Farepak failure is not a “national emergency” as the Consumer Affairs Minister, Ian McCartney has described it. Yes, it’s a mess, it will cause hardship to some, legislation does need to change and, frankly, there does need to be an investigation into what happened.
But “national emergency”? No! Isn’t it a pity that the energy being devoted by the government and its ministers to the collapse of Farepak and the blackmailing of business to contribute to the Farepak Response Fund isn’t matched by any dynamism when it comes to resolving a real national emergency of our time. I refer to the growing debacle over final salary pension schemes and those that have failed.

True - this is NOT a national emergency.
But the reason it has received such huge attention from MP's in England and Scotland is something which I am sure other "pressure groups" will learn from.
Very early on, two people who were VERY upset with what had happened decided to do more than just moan about it.
http://www.unfairpak.co.uk/forumwas set up, and, together with this website, has acted as the focus for concerted action.
People who had never before got involved in the political process were encouraged to find out who their MP is, and contact them. That is why there were so many MP's at the debate - they knew they had to be there!
The media were contacted daily by dozens of people. Many people were prepared to speak up, to tell their story.
I would not say that this is the most important event ever to have taken place - but the power of the people getting together, using technology, using the media, and, most importantly, genuinely believing that they have been "robbed", has made it seem so.0 -
