The fund total is over £5million now :T

I just hope everyone is letting the fund know about their refunds!!! They will find out through the administrators at some stage though but everyone should make sure they let them know.
If you have received a refund please advise us by mailing cb@farepakresponsefund.org.uk by 24 November in order that we may adjust our records prior to any distribution from the Response Fund

Just as a quick note, that I thought MoneySavers would appreciate, on behalf of the site I donated £1,000 to the Farepak fund today.

    Martin,

I've just made a small donation to the fund myself, but had to rummage around a bit to find a reliable link to it (just in case the first site I found was some evil scam cashing in on this ghastly mess). (It might be included somewhere in the 40+ pages of this thread, but I haven't the stamina to plough through it all).

Could you perhaps include the http://www.farepakresponsefund.org.uk/ address in next week's Tips, as the deadline for donations has been extended to 6pm Weds 29th and there may be other people who get the Tips and can afford to give a bit to help out, and might do so if the link and the deadline, are put in front of them!

And they can do GiftAid too, which is always good - getting a bit of our tax back from the government to go to a good cause.

Maybe the Farepak top brass won't get off scott free?

Farepak chairman could be banned from directorships

"....Peter Burrell, partner at law firm Herbert Smith, while not commenting on Farepak specifically, said: "Directors' disqualifications are usually taken against executive management. Clearly if you are non-executive and aware of the financial position then you are under the same duties as an executive director to ensure the company's assets are properly safe guarded....."

    But

It's still not clear if investigators will lay blame for failure at the doors of directors
  • Hi, I don't suppose paying the company by cheque means I have any chance of getting my money back does it? I included on the back of the cheque my name and address but I didn't include the long number from my visa debit card as guarantee. If I had, would this have counted as a payment by visa card and the 'charge back' rule apply?
  • Today I have received paperwork from the administration company. It includes claim forms to be filled out by agent and all customers and signed by agent.

I am wondering if I will receive anything. I was saving with freedom2shop, everyone else just seems to mention Farepak. I was not an agent, just saving on my own. I have sent an email and given my account number etc. I hope I hear something soon.

Anone else save with Freedom and doing it for themselves not through an agent?
