  • A friend who works in a bank explained if you paid your payts with Direct debit you can claim the bank indemnity policy on this. Get Your cash back.
My hearts go out to all effected by this.

    Hi
I paid £76 per month via direct debit to my bank (Alliance & Leicester) and have therefore personally lost £684. I did contact my bank when the news first broke to see if I was covered by the dd guarantee but wasn't.
I've since emailed my bank to see again if anything can be done but haven't the foggiest of what I'd be quoting and how to kick up a fuss
    Can anyone advise.
    Thanks.

to the person whom felt so strongly about people whom have been conned by farepak asking for charity!!!
right, firstly we never asked for charity, we just want our money which was taken under false pretences back, we only asked for fair play as this money was used to keep other businesses afloat, please do a bit of research before you judge others!! I do not want charity I want answers and my money back.

i think that thsi is aimed at me which makes me very sad indeed. im not judging people nor did i say at any point that teh peopel themselves were asking for charity, what i did say is that its a mirror and tesco initative. im not exactly minted myself im a student and i live in a council flat, (loads of my neighbours have been affected by this its not as if im some rich person who pitties all teh poor people) but i do want to help people and i though that donating to the mirror/tesco thing was a good idea for poeple whove missed out and are now left with nothing. ive made a christmas hamper for my neighbour too, im not judgign him by doign that i just want him to have a nice christmas coz his family never visit him and he lives alone. sorry i bl00dy cared if thats the attitude youre goign to take! i myself cannot make the company give you your money back i wish i could but im only one person and i just thought that i could do my bit. youve really upset me, i was just trying to be helpful. my original post is below:

i feel so bad for everyone whose lost out as they were all doing what teh government kept saying, save up for christmas over the year dint put it all on a credit card in december. everyone who was saving was doing the sensible thing, saving hard and i feel awful for them and their kids, especially those who cant afford now to buy their kids christmas presents or those who acted as agents for family members and who feel guilty now. i cant believe that they kept taking payments right up until the day before they went into administration, how absolutely calous of them. and of hbos to help them keep it all quiet. apparently even their staff were told nothing was wrong up until a few days before.

i read in the mirror that tesco are putting some boxes in their stores next week to collect hamper-style goods. i urge everyone to buy a few extra bits and drop them in, just think about kids and their parents having nowt on christmas day due to absolutely no fault of their own becuase they though they were doing teh right thing in saving up, its horrid. ive bought a few selction boxes, tins, snacks etc. to put in and i hope everyobe else who hasnt been affected by it and who can afford it will donate too.

to be honest i think its shocking that these farepak "Victims" are getting people set up charities etc when they obviously have alot of money to initially put it away every month like the lady with the 5 bed house in surrey on the news complaining she lost £4000, bigger fools for them.
lets look after the homeless children or the forces children whos dads/mum have been killed fighting to make this country what it is today?

If you had bothered to read the posts before, it is people with very little money who use these schemes. The woman who lost £4000 was an agent and it was her AND HER CUSTOMERS' money she lost. Farepak 'victims' as you call us, are not asking for charity or handouts, just our money back which we paid to this company.

what ever happened to freedom of speech?
im not saying its fully unreasonable allthough you have to realise the risk factor involved in this kind of thing and take the rough with the smooth.
why use a christmas hamper firm anyway like was previously mentioned whats wrong with a bank or a safe?
seems to me that everyone expects the world to donate kindly but personally if i cant afford to put money away then most people are either rich or a drain on the benefit system.
both me and my wife work 40-50 hours a week and get good pay but havent got 5p let alone £50 a month to save for christmas

Actually I don't think people did realise there was a risk factor involved. Read back through the previous posts and you will find many explanations why people don't save with banks or put money in safes.
I am not rich and I am not a drain on the benefit system, both my partner and I work we get reasonably good wages and we can afford to put a few pound away each week so we don't need to get anything on credit at Christmas. You say you and your partner work 40-50 hours a week and get good pay but can't afford to put anything away for Christmas, I think instead of coming on this site with your views you should be questioning yourself, where are you going wrong?????

dear freebie junkie, my reply was never intended for you, I apoligise if your offended, the point I was making was that all I myself wanted out of this is answer's I have given to charity all my working life, and like you I feel charity is for those whom need it for essentials, "farepak victims" is the title the press have made, remember that they want to sell thier papers so they will exploit situations, I just want answers about how this fraud has been allowed, please have my apoligy for any offence, I am not on here to offend. We did not ask for charity fund to be set up the govt and the admistrators asked for it, not the customer's we want the money that was taken under false pretences returned and the questions answered.
