I am just posting a link here for reference if I ever find myself in the similar situation. I think it contains all the legal agreements for international mail but it is far too long to read and I not even sure it is the right set of documents.

I would love it if this thread were to help someone else avoid such a stressful situation.
To everyone who says I should 'just call eBay' - it really isn't that simple! Having been told yesterday by someone at ebay.co.uk that they couldn't help, I have exhausted every avenue of finding a US number and so have just gone through their 'live chat' service instead. All was going well until the assistant told me that because the case was closed and (I quote) 'we don't have any chat support for that department', she asked for my number so someone could give me a call to discuss. Great! I think.
Then she clocks the country code and asks whether it's a US number. I tell her I'm in the UK. She tells me in that case, they won't be able to call me to discuss after all, and gives me an email address to send the details through to. Which I've done immediately, but goodness knows how long it will take them to get around to processing that. The verdict is due today.
I really could just weep. This system is broken. How can the operator in the UK tell me they can't help when the claim was filed in the US/Canada, but then the US/Canada team won't deal with me because I'm in the UK?Debt-free & saving for the next big adventure

And, brilliantly, I've just recieved an automated email from eBay saying that the way they deal with correspondence is changing - and directing me to live chat! :rotfl:
So they probably won't even look at my email after all.
