Wow Billy, exciting times ahead. Lovely to see you back posting and I'm looking forward to catching up with your daily updates.

    Thanks Cath,

Today started well but has gone downhill significantly. We have agreed payment with our last remaining creditor and are nearing completion with our two remaining debtors so all well and good but a big part of my day (aside from continuing my catch up on game of thrones which is properly amazing) was to research our Arizona road trip. That portion of the trip looks a complete non-starter now due to the wildfires that are raging and forecasted so I need to come up with a plan B - maybe north / northwest roadtrip from Vegas but a return to Hawaii might be the best plan - out of the wildfire and into the volcano!

Moyra's exam papers arrived today so that will give me some peach and quiet for a week which is nice. Business planning is my major activity in the days and weeks ahead as I've decided to kick off at least a couple of businesses between now and the latter half of the year. Some good friends who I can trust and some properly skilled folk who will be extremely valuable already lined up to be involved.

    Cheers so,

    Billy

Hope your business ideas are in Scotland,we need people like you

    Absolutely BT,

Scotland won't get rid of me that easily! Still the intent to retire abroad and, before that, spend a significant period of time travelling and relaxing. Life should be all fun and games from hereon in. A couple of consultancies - one service small businesses and one focused on individual and family financial advice is where I'm headed. Plans are already afoot and several clients already showing interest. Can't see how it can fall down.

    Cheers so,

    Thanks newgirly,

Much appreciated. Slowing down, at least for a period, was absolutely the plan but I'm a proper type A personality (for good and bad) and struggled with boredom after the first 4 hours of trying it!!

    Malo Froggy,

Nice to hear from you. Still fighting the good fight in closing down this business. It's a lengthy and frustrating process, complicated by the necessity not to make it formal prior to all our bills being paid. We have now paid out everything we owe but still waiting on around £130,000 to come in. That's more of a personal issue now as that money, minus taxes, is to come to me.

As it stands, just these three payments to come in, the VAT to pay, the accounts to bottom out and then the corporation tax to pay. I then get the pleasure of emptying the bank account and awaiting my personal tax bill in about 12-15 months time and that will be that.

In the meantime, the business planning continues apace and I hope we'll have some solid news on that in the coming days.

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Thanks US,

Much appreciated. In some respects, it has turned out ok but I honestly wouldn't and couldn't repeat the whole process. Life as a humble employee was much, much simpler - just a shame I can't bear the idea of that either. I may well have made myself unemployable!

    Cheers,
