Glad it's all started at last Billy, how exciting :T.

One of ours has been empty for 2 months, workmen nearly finished and new tenants moving in 2nd week in March. This has led to serious cash flow problems here (promised to make it worth Mr GG's while if he came up last night instead of his normal Friday night and had to raid mortgage pig to give him 1p ;)) so I won't be adding to Froggy's offer. You're on your own :rotfl:.

What happened to the latest offer you'd put in? I think you're setting your sights too low tbh. THIS is more what you should be thinking about doing. Shame there's no football grounds nearby for redevelopment ;)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    Morning Gally,

We're several weeks away from buying the next couple at least so we'll probably hang fire a wee bit if any of the first three aren't occupied. Shouldn't cause us too much difficulty thankfully but it will be nice to draw a line under five properties, all renovated and occupied for the coming six months. We're a long way away from all of that just now.

We've decided though, probably against our better MSE instincts, to do this right and put people in decent properties. The first was originally scheduled to get just a kitchen but it now getting completely re-wired (essential), the new kitchen (pretty much essential), a new bathroom (probably not essential but well worth doing) and painted/ plastered as required. We'll become the landlords of choice in very short order I hope!

You don't know of any decent stadia kicking about that we could effect that type of conversion on? Only criteria is a lack of asbestos, no shaky steelworks (can't imagine where you would get a shoddy lot of steel from!!) and no prominent primary colours as that looks a bit garish....

    Cheers,

    Billy

  • Hi Billy,
At long last you got the keys to your bt,l I am so pleased for you. We all know that you will be a fab landlord as you always set high standards in everything you do. I can't believe how many delays you had in getting the keys. I would be looking for compensation from the lawyers for the delay. We got money back from our financial advisor when we had a 4 day delay in buying a house.
If your house is in good condition it will rent out quicker, remember to take loads of photo's. If you need any advice or help give me a shout or phone me.
Had a fabby dabby holiday, but don't really know what planet I am on with this jet lag !!!!
So pleased for you and Moyra, awe the best on your new adventure.

  • Wow Billy - keys!! How did I miss all that? :rotfl:
Have you got a BTL mortgage for this ? Definitley a good idea to have a decentish house to start off with- will hopefully get people in quicker and a good reputation!
The Billy-Empire sounds like its on its way up! ;)

    Hiya Gally,

Although, just the land might be sufficient for a big house! All I need is a volunteer crew of 50,000 hardy souls to do the dismantling for me. I'll try to schedule that for the end of March and then make a call on whether it's a goer or not.

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Afternoon L,

I thought buying houses was a fairly stressful process! Renovating the bloody things is even worse! Having spent the better part of £5,000 yesterday on various bits and pieces of stuff. The lawyer is about as stressed as I've ever seen anyone so I think a request for compensation may just tip her over the edge!

Glad you had a great time. I don't deal well with the jetlag at all. It's normally a week before I get back to any semblance of normality.

Got the camera on standby! I'll be photo happy once the various works are done. My jobs so far include sawing a fence, tidying the gardens and painting walls. I'll leave the electrical works, kitchen and bathroom fitting and wall building to the professionals!

    Cheers,

    Billy
