i called 3 (need to keep on it) and after a hour on the phone i managed to chat to the networking team who agreeded to cancel all 3 accounts and they droped the 2g signal (orange) on the 25th november so if you call remember to quote this date as they will try to fob you off saying that is a mass down.
good luck :T:rotfl:yummy mummy to my 3 year old and wife to my hubby for 3 years0 -

Only if you keep paying the monthly charges!
Otherwise I'll get an iPhone 4 for free, cancel the contract and keep the phone!!
My sister has exactly this problem with 3 at the moment. Signal has disappeared in their house and 3 have accepted that it is their fault as they no longer use Orange network to fill in black spots in their coverage. My wife's phone has also had more no service areas recently but is ok at home so we'd not realised it was a general problem.
Doing a bit more digging it appears it may all improve - at least for 3G coverage - next year.

So by some time next year 3 and T-Orange will both have the net 3G coverage of the previous 3, T-Mobile and Orange networks combined.
Posted in March 2010 - now appears to have been validated that it was switched off in Nov after the Oct deal expired.
2G roaming with Orange is less clear, the only specific comments from 3 on this so far was on their blog site where in response to a question about whether the Orange 2G roaming agreement would be continued after the completion of the 3G site share with T-Mobile in October, the response was that although they had "no plans" at the moment to discontinue it, that after October they would take stock and "reconsider" the situation, and see whether 2G fallback was still necessary.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

Totally different situation. Three are in breach of contract so customers should be able to leave without penalty. That normally means you can keep the phone.0 -
if your network agrees to let you out of the contract early witout penalty they are quite within their rights to ask for the handset to be returned.
All mobile phone contracts have t&c regarding signal and no provider guarantees any kind of signal at all in specific locations, it is a MOBILE phone after all, so them cancelling the agreement is an act of goodwill on their part. if you wiish to kepp the handset then the network will insist you keep to the contract as agreed and continue to pay the monthly charges, otherwise people could just check which network is a bit shonky where they live, take a contract and then demand it be cancelled and pocket a £500 handset0 -
Deliberately reducing your network coverage "during" customers' contracts is not the same as the network just not having great coverage in your area. The phone and the airtime contract are separate components and generally when a network is in breach of contract you get to keep the phone.0

No contract breach has occurred here
T&c state that mobile signal is never guaranteed and as this signal was being provided by a third party ( orange in this case) it could have been switched off at any time completely out of threes control
In this instance three have agreed to end the contract early as a gesture of goodwill, legally they do not have to do this and could hold customers to their contracts as it states coverage is never guaranteed. However they are being gracious and decent about it. In return for this gesture they can ask for the handset to be returned, refuse to return it and j would fully expect the offer of goodwill to be withdrawn and for the network to hold you to the contract0 -
I disagree. T&Cs are in addition to consumer rights and contract law, not instead of. The customer's contract is with Three and they have chosen to remove coverage. They got customers to sign up based on their coverage whether 2G or 3G. It was not a case of Orange just happening to work on the Three network. Three had an agreement with Orange which Three have decided to end. The customer doesn't need to know how that cover is supplied, they have formed a contract with Three based on Three's coverage map. If they hadn't had the coverage they said they had many customers would not have signed up with them. This is not an issue to do with weak signal areas it is a fundamental change in the service provided to many customers.0

Interesting read:

H3G:
Retains policy to allows customers to cancel contract at any time if they get poor coverage.
Applicable only to coverage problems.
Applicable to contracts bought in-store, over the phone or online.
all other Providers only offer 5 - 28 day's to cancel a contract due to coverage problems...Laters

Gosh. If I could only use Vodafone on 3g I wouldnt be getting a lot of use out of my phone.0

Any tips for getting out of the agreements, or letter templates.
Best delete the duplicate post I did :-(
I hate this kind of behavior from suppliers. No public announcement, shops not informed, T&C's are irrelevant, UK contract law is what over rides them, this is a clear detriment of service.
Arghhhhh, I only just moved to three and I was very happy - for those who want to know I think it all turned off 18th of Dec!
Oh and in my area at least, the coverage checker is TOTALLY wrong, needs a manual remap!
Cheers.
