Looks a bit of a gimmick to me; can't see how it can work from say a combi or electric shower? They say they are interested in eco issues - good money spinner though!

The only way it can restrict water flow is to add resistance that would impair the lifespan of a pump.

How much it would impair it I have no idea.

Electric shower power off the mains would be different, it would impair the lifespan of heater & thermostat.

There have been quite a lot of giveaways for that type of thing so I wouldn't bother buying one.

Just a query regarding restricting the flow. I don't see that it would damage the pump, is it not just the same as only opening a tap partially, not fully ?

    (not a plumber)

    Sounds sensible.

Bought one of these at the Ideal Home show and attached it to our shower (replacing an Aqualisa head). Must have used it for all of 30 seconds before it came off again and was put in a cupboard (PM me if you want it for the postage cost!). Seems to work by restricting flow and forcing air through to make it seem like there is more water coming through. Compared to the Aqualisa, I reckoned a shower would have to last 30% longer to get clean, so the 'savings' were illusory!

But it didn't even work in one of the demos on the show!!

The other day we had an eaga shower smart turn up addressed to my OH..we don't remember ever sending off for it and it was addressed to wife's maiden name so it must have been at least a year ago if we did request it!

I'm likely to just bin it TBH as we have no use for it! Looking at it it appears to just be a flow restrictor.

We received one of these on Saturday. It is a flow restrictor. I've told myself I'll give it a week, but I don't like it at the moment. It just takes longer to rinse my shampoo out so not really saving any water.

Didnt see the one on the apprentice, but we put in a Deva 'Kiri' water-saving showerhead a couple of weeks ago, after hearing good things about it. So can't say much about it, only that the effect is like showering in warm rain, lovely.
