I have a flow restrictor on my thermostatic shower to vary the quantity of water used.
Its called the valve operating lever.

We have the Mira eco shower head it is outputting about 7 litre per minute (Combi boiler+thermostatic shower pump)and after a year of using it, I can say that it does what it say on the tin. The original Aqualisa head was sending 22 litre per minute (we measured it with the plastic bag thingy that came with the head).
If you like listening to the radio while in the shower, make sure you up the volume as this contraption is tad noiser than your standard head.
You can read loads of user reviews in the link above.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

I stumbled on this page when searching for the ecocamel showerhead on google..decided as we're a big family of 5 that it was worth trying - first one we got didn't work too well, sent it back and got another one sent through...seems to work ok, shower is a lot more fluffy feeling, I'm yet to see any savings in the bills, but give it a bit of time...It seems to be using less water (Did a small test with a bucket as mentioned) .. as someone else mentioned, a tad noisier, but the shower feels good. Got hold of it from ecocamel shower head direct, at least then if it goes wrong I tihnk you'll have more luck getting it sorted out..Happy enough anyway, might try a Mira on another shower?0

But it didn't even work in one of the demos on the show!!
The other day we had an eaga shower smart turn up addressed to my OH..we don't remember ever sending off for it and it was addressed to wife's maiden name so it must have been at least a year ago if we did request it!

I'm likely to just bin it TBH as we have no use for it! Looking at it it appears to just be a flow restrictor.
I have just received a post card saying that a "Shower Smart" has been requested at my address. No it hasn't! I have to contact them if I don't want it. What a flaming cheek! At least they give an 0800 number and an email address, not that I'll use the latter and so end up with endless rubbish in my in tray.0 -

Same here. I received that letter a couple of weeks ago and it went straight into bin. A couple of days ago the Shower Smart arrived.
I haven't decided yet whether to try it out.0 -
I tried 2 different the EcoCamel models and they just didn't work well on my pumped mixer shower or my electric shower in the bathroom..I then tried the Mira one which wasn't bad but quite noisey, so given that to my mother.
a few months ago I got one from a company on eBay after a google search, seller ID is abcon1, go onto eBay and search by seller name abcon1 - it's quite an excellent excellent shower head, pretty quiet and doesn't seem to have affected performance, perhaps it has improved it on the elec shower which was a bit weak before.
they do it with a shower thermometer for a bit more money which is the one I got (I just love handy gadgets) :-
It seems to work very well in my house on both showers and since then my mother has got 4 of the same model as she runs a b&b and really likes them..so far she thinks she's saved 30-40% on water, no idea about gas / electric yet...can't wait to calculate it!!0 -

Methinks I detect a whiff of spam here Ambassador Kosh.
Cheers
PS I think these things are a con. All they do is restrict the flow so people stay under the shower longer - how's that water saving? The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits. - Einstein0 -
not spam, I'm just new at this..thought it hadn't sent first message - doh!
well I don't spend any longer in the shower than before, but saving several Litres of water each time..I even measured the saving with a bucket over 1 min - really does work nicely - got to be a win win, I really like these water saving shower heads.. just as well I'm saving water now...I've got a water meter0
