That'll be because either [1] you both have jobs in the public sector [2] you've not wintered yet :)

Having stalked your posts .... nice area. I like that bit.

Wouldn't PS workers be on a bit of a dodgy wicket now PN?

also option 3 - you have your own business?
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j

Can't help on areas for buying but just wanted to say we holiday in Polruan every year and both Polruan & Fowey are lovely. We always go in May & Sept/Oct, I have heard it is like a different place come the summer months though. Good Luck.

    thanks maisiescamp

Sis and BiL are there as I type this. They love it.

I've just moved from Winchester so am used to being overrun with tourists pretty much year round and struggling with the stupid one way system there. Only moved 30 miles up the A34 to be nearer work or would still live there.

  • St Austell is a town very close to Fowey. A lot cheaper to buy in, some nice areas there. Have you got a budget for the house? What sort of size are you looking for? I used to live in St Austell so could have a look for the nicest areas your budget could cover.

one of the auction houses had an ex holiday let up for sale last year I am sure it was in Fowey, I can't remember which one but the 3 bed cottage went for below 200k, I thought it seemed a fair price as it looked lovely.

Scan the auction websites - there's a few coming up.

there are a lot of properties that have come up lately in polruan,
the ferry that runs from polruan to fowey is very regular (every 15 mins)
very narrow and windy roads and very hilly especially the road from polruan to ferry good to keep fit though.

You could look in surrounding areas such as lanteglos, lansallos etc, looe and polperro are a little further away (about 10 miles) but a pretty quick drive

Have lived in cornwall for 23 years and wouldnt change it
Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.

I was remarking on how pleased they felt they'd relocated to the area... living is a different reality, when you have to do 100 mile round trip to try to buy a simple bike for example... and still come home having not found/seen one.

Yes PS workers are on a dodgy wicket - loads to go down here.

When you have your own business you suddenly realise you're either selling to locals, who have no money - or tourists, who are only here 8-10 weeks of the year.
