I booked Tickets online with First Trans Pennie last Friday for some train tickets and have just found out that it looks like they have taken what i paid for the tickets and then taken the same out again but the payment has been taken out of bank and is showing online but the other same amount is sitting in bank but i cant get at it.
This has happened before but why do they do it?
I take it they the bank has to wait 7 days till i can get at it?
is it the banks fault or the train companys fault?

Many thanks for that but why do they hold the same amount again even if they got the money for the 1st amount?
What has happen is this
I paid £22 70 for trains fares and that has Cleared and is showing on my online account but another £22.70 is sitting on hold in account and i cant get at it till the 7 days has passed so why do they do that?
I only paid £22.70 so they should have only taken £22.70 not X2 even if i of them is on hold.0 -

Sometimes there is an error with the merchant or device you are using which double authorises the transaction. It can also happen if you have entered the incorrect PIN or the transaction was cancelled.
It depends on your bank, some will release the funds after 48 hours others are longer. OP which bank do you use?Best Regards

Typically it's the merchant at fault, but I wouldn't rule out the bank in some cases.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
It's the merchant.
(Seen your question on DS too, ilovesky!, nice to see other monikers on other forums)
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -

What has happened here is the merchant at first, has pre-authourised your card for £22.70, then charged (Processed) your card for £22.70.
What should have happened is, If a card is pre-authourised, the merchant (Sales clerk) should ideally complete the pre-authourised transaction (ie: charge the debit/credit card using the same code generated at pre-authourisation stage)
You can call up the merchant and ask them to ask their bank to release the funds, or just wait until it clears automatically, which may take 3-7 working days, depending on the banks involved.
It is a common error that occurs regularly in many establishments and sometimes leaves the customer with large amounts of funds blocked for several days.0 -
