No Buying Toiletries in November Challenge....

  • Found this YouTube video on this website today - I used to buy chemical free bubble bath (such as Jason from Holland and Barrett or one from Oxfam) and have gotten out of the habit. I know not everyone believes that toxins in cosmetics and stuff are that strong but... here it is for you to make your own mind up:
    http://pollynoble.com/2010/08/chemical-free-beauty-product/

    Used up:
Elemis eye serum is on its last knockings. WIBA nope. The Liz Earle serum is better. And probably about the same price.

    Going to give up on:
Champneys face mask - a pink one, collagen - wiba no. It was sticky like. Skin felt nicer but it was too messy to use.

Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner - blue one - wiba no. Brought me up in a rash near my hairline. Really disappointed.

Pronamel toothpaste - wiba no. It's quite watery and I didn't feel it kept my breath fresh. Plus it's pricey unless on offer.

    Night all.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm feeling virtuous. I got a posh soap out at the weekend for visitors and its beautiful. I keep picking it up to smell it when I'm upstairs.:o:D

But I'm finishing what I started in the bath, even though I long for the white bar that smells of almonds and sun.

i've scrubbed hands again, and hand creamed and foot creamed. I WILL body butter before getting into a bed, I plan to warm up the bed with a hot water bottle while buttering up so it will be a double luxury.:D

If I'm not careful I might go mad tomorrow and use a facemask or something ;)

i'm planning on filing my feet tonight and smothering myself with a body butter/souffle. I'm really bad at moisturising and keep buying the stuff as i think it will make me use it up. How silly can you get? This weather isn't helping my skin so i really must start doing it on a daily basis.

I am slapping the more revolting of my body lotions onto my feet every morning and night now - they are still like sandpaper from the summer, and I have very little circulation in them (or my hands), so it helps me keep an eye on them. Last year I managed to walk around with tack in toe all day as I never felt it! So I get to use up more of the stash quicker, and stops me throwing away anything that smell rank (like the current foot lotion - C&E ghastly goatsmilk.
Wish I could be a better better at painting my nails more regularly, but there's very little to work with......... :-(
Good idea to use the 'orrible stuff up like that. Plus really fun that I loved goatmilk from Crabtree and Evelyn! I had one of their mini soaps and that was lovely too. Mmm methinks some nivea lotion or body butter tonight. Need to get this back into my routine.
Hurrah! you mean you let PYNMs go while I was off line? Terrible!

This morning my hands are starting to feel better....just a few days of care...less rough, not as great as they should be but more ''girl'' than ''builder''!

Also, funnily enough, I found the routine of ''self'' last night made me feel more organised, less chasing my own tail, more controlled and calm and myself. It might not be fun to always be primping and preening, but to have a routine as norm seems to me to be a good thing for reasons more than using up toiletries and being vain and self indulgent.
Ha ha! Yes my nails are the pits...I had a couple break, then I attacked them now they look like awful things. Off to paint them a sublte colour in the hope I will leave them alone and so look better for xmas parties. :D

All of my efforts to UU stuff up in November and to avoid buying as much as possible has translated into the following lists:

    UU's

Clairol Nice 'n Easy Colourseal Gloss for Brunettes x 2
    Clairol Root Touch Up
BS Shea Body Butter 50 ml
    Olive Body Cream
Sachet of Crabtree & Evelyn Iris Body Lotion
Champneys Moisture Miracle Skin Comforting Body Butter
Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E Concentrated Cream
Deadsea Source De-Stress Ginger Body Souffle 350 ml
Protect and Perfect Hand Cream 25 ml
    Sachet of Lipo-serum Cellulite Scrub
    Hotel miniature Shampoo
    Imperial Leather Soap
    17 Infinite Lash Defining Mascara
    Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara
    Maybelline XXL Volume Length Mascara
    Tesco Vitamin E Cleansing Wipes
    Dental Floss

    Ins

BS LOVE Body Butter 50 ml (Used BS freebie £5 voucher)
Sachet of Crabtree & Evelyn Body Lotion (freebie)
Sample of Crabtree & Evelyn Eau de Toilette (freebie)
    Tesco Vitamin E Wipes (38p)
Elle Macpherson Foot Butter (Used half price voucher)
Sanctuary Deep Cleanse Facial Fresh-Faced Purifying Wash (used £5 Boots voucher and £3 Sanctuary voucher)

    Dental Floss

So, 18 UU's and 7 ins (I'm not counting the item I bought for a Xmas present).

What these lists don't show is how many items I resisted the temptation of whilst out Xmas shopping!

I have not had the greatest month! :o:(

Loads of Incoming and hardly any UUs!

I think I'm going to make a plan for next year for the basics that I can't avoid - like shower gel, shampoo, hair dye etc

Make up...I think we all know I won't need any more for quite a while.

But since when has "need" ever come into it?! :p

I don't know what I'm going to do about that.
