iPhone on 3
Options
I have a great tariff on 3 £15 u/l texts mins and Internet want an iPhone but have to change my tariff to £30 to get one they won't even let me buy thru them a discounted one. Should I buy one elsewhere? How much? I could put my sim card in? Is it worth it would the large screen samsung galaxy be just as good? I could get this for a small charge thru 3 without changing my tariff
It pays to challenge

Yes, its correct that if you require the iphone to be on your contract then they transfer you over to their iPhone tariff. No other choice unless you stay on your old tariff and purchase the iphone separately.0

You will find that the pricing policy of Apple will mean that buying an iPhone elsewhere may well be very expensive, the price will vary by memory size and model (the new 4G or older 3GS).
Also it is VERY important to note that if you get an iPhone 4G I don't think you can use your existing SIM card - I have a vague recollection that it uses a micro-SIM format.
It is very much worth considering the Galaxy S (not Portal) it is at least as good a phone. Another to consider would be the HTC Desire HD if you can get one and keep your contract.
Take a look here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2831872 and elsewhere in this forum for comparisons/discussions.
The one question I tell everyone to ask themselves before buying an iPhone is "Why do I want it?" . Then look for other phones that also fulfil those reasons.
