Rover 75 spare parts?

@ jakg, It is a well known fact in the trade that the first few years of production where slightly better built, only up till W if I remember correctly. No matter what you may think the trade is well aware of this. I don't think it was less well equipped to any great extent, but it was made more economical to build, I am sure they moved where it was produced at the same time, I did read an article about it years ago, I think in Car Mechanics Mag, they also rate the Rover 75 highly. Though I always found the seats in the MG a bit to confining, prefering the 75 seats, rmember that the early ones had the seat bases from the 3 series underneath the pluish Rover trim, I think that may have been something that was changed in the facelift, and the first ones has the PCB of the 3 series fascia underneath the Rover switches, I think this was also changed after the first few years of production, after BMW sold them off probably.
The later facelift models where cheaper to produce due to the single piece bumpers, and they tried to make it less traditional with the different headlights, I wouldn't say they cheapened it, but it had issues with changing headlight bulbs with the bumper on, due to lack of access, my mate was a fleet manager and had over 100 of these things, he rated them highly and they where a good car for executive private hire work in London.
The auto diesel is the best of the bunch so the OP has bought a good 'un.
However I believe there are some minor differences between the 116 and the 131 versions, yes you can get a tune up box for them, by Roverron, but I am sure that the 131 had either a bigger intercooler or the 116 didn't have an intercooler atall, so they are not exactly the same when you tune up an 116.
Where do you get your information that all vehicles with 17" wheels where underpowered K series engines?
The 18" wheels where only fitted in large numbers to the MG version, but as I was talking about a diesel estate I think you will find that it didn't have a K series engine in it.
Most of the models came with 16" wheels for the large part of the production, and 17" wheels where an extra, though in later years they did fit 17" wheels to a lot of cars as standard, not that many as the larger wheels where detrimantal to the cars best quality, comfort and ride quality.
I hope the OP has a reliable car, as when you get a good 'un they are spot on.0 -
