Rover 75 spare parts?

Options
Hi I am considering buying a Rover 75 CDI but I'm slightly concerned about the availability of spare parts since they're no longer being made.

Does anybody on here know of any difficulties in getting spares for this vehicle?

  • Lots listed on eBay. But just out of interest, why are you wanting to buy one?

I'm still running one, and have had no problem with parts - not that i've had to have much done. Recently the bonnet release got stuck and an odd part was needed that guides the release cable under the release catch - that took 3 days to come, but no problem in sourcing it. I've asked my garage what they think, and their view is that there is no problem. I'm keen to run the car for many more years as i'm so happy with it. (50 mpg on the 2L diesel) regards

I've always wanted one they look really comfortable and classy for the money. I had a 45 and loved it.

Thanks, actually since I've been thinking about it I've seen loads on the road so they must all manage to find parts somehow, might be time to bite the bullet and get one while I still can.

    Many thanks

Countless service parts are available and still being made (I'd imagine Unipart are the main distributor though, as Rover's dealer parts were all Unipart!). Any Motor Factors will still stock parts. You'll also find many pattern parts being made as far as more obscure items go, too. Even if you couldn't find a specific item, scrapyards will no doubt have a few in stock!

I hate Rovers, but would consider buying any car if the price was right, and right now you can pick a last off the line 54-plate Rover 75 up for as little as £2,000, which is small change considering how much car you're getting!
  • Youd get a 54 plate Vectra/Mondeo for £2000 too.
  • rover got a bad name due to the petrol k series engine having headgasket failures, IMO getting a diesel mg/rover 25/ZR,45/ZS,75/ZT is a better investment. plus 2.0 diesel engine is made by BMW in the modern ones right till 2004 when they went down the pan.

    if choosing a 75

remember that in the last few production years the 75 was "cheapened" to save money (back bumper quite different for example). I think some of the classic looks were taken away and I wonder if parts were more randomly sourced from whoever was least expensive. Anyway I have the earlier model, have run it from new with the 2L diesel engine from BMW, and haver been delighted with it.

Most parts easy to get from local sources. Rimmer Bros HERE have a very comprehensive site listing all parts/prices etc. maybe not the cheapest but will give you some idea. I use 2 Rover 75 forums, 75 and ZT owners club and MG-Rover.org both very friendly and knowledgeable tohelp you make the right choice.

Thanks all, I'll make sure I look for the one with the 2ltr diesel engine. Once again thanks for your help.
