Sometimes, even though you use the PAC code straight away, they sometimes charge you for the full remaining month. Check with operator when requesting your code.
PAC code request does not give notice if you decide not to use the PAC code. If you do use it then no notice is required.
Hope that helps :T
the contract is due to end on 2nd january so i am assuming that i will be charged up to that date even if I port the number sooner. I will try to work it so that I move the number as close as possible to that date - although it's not the best time of year to be doing it!3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

I would suggest doing it a week before, especially at that time of the year. If there is a problem with the port it is better to have a few days to sort it before the end date of the contract.====0 -

Good point, probably aim for before the 23rd, between the end of thr 24th and the 2nd you'll find a lot of the technical staff will be on holiday if there was to be a problem.====0 -
Check your current bill. You will find that you are paying for your line rental in advance. So, any time after you pay the bill that has the advance line rental for December/January you can ask for your PAC code and use it.
Do not, however, cancel the DD as there may be calls during December that will need to be paid in January. You can cancel the DD after these have been paid.0
