    Hey Wealdroam,

Thanks for your reply. I don't think I can really. When I ordered I specifically mentioned that I'd seen the product on their website.

    If only I'd known!
Well don't mention it any more.
    That's all I'm saying. ;)

    Haha OK wealdroam, fair point!

The company I'm dealing with is John Lewis (everyone else seems OK mentioning who they're dealing with).

I'd be grateful for any more thoughts on this matter, particularly about them already having taken payment (albeit for the wrong amount) from my bank and whether this is binding in any way.

I guess when they call I just don't want to be on the back foot!

Did I misread or did you say the invoice / receipt was for £850? Did any paperwork come with the TV and what was the price on there?

    Hey Savercol,

Yes, you're correct. I received an electronic receipt (i think that's what they'd call it, not sure if that's the legal terminology!) when I ordered. This had the £850 price on. TV is/was due for delivery on Thurs, so nothing in paper yet.

    Thanks.

You have an invoice for the amount you agreed to pay - £850
Yet JL took £1200 from your account.

That is what I understand to be correct.

Get onto them first thing in the morning and ask why the wrong amount has been taken from your account.

I suspect if it is a pricing error that they will refund the money and say sorry and the transaction will be null and void, however I do think (if this is the case) you need to write and express your disappointment.

You may get some sort of goodwill gesture, but then again you may not.

The basic premiss of agreeing one price and them charging you another is certainly very wrong.

    Hi lucky,

They said they'd get in touch themselves on Monday, I figured I'd call them in the afternoon if they haven't called by then.

I am expecting to be disappointed. A good will gesture would be nice, I know John Lewis are pretty renowned for their customer service.

    Thanks.

I would beat them to the punch, so to speak.

Why did they agree a price, for which you have an invoice, yet debit your account with a different amount?

You should take control not wait for them.

Hudson has given some good advice. You didn't read the t's and c's online...remember....! To be fair, lots of people do what you did with JL - take a look at their website and reserve or buy over the phone.

In my experience, JL are superb so I am sure they will do the right thing.

Hey Lucky, true but they said they needed to listen back to the phone call I made when I ordered the TV 'to see what was said' before they could take further action.

You make a good point tho.

Hi Equaliser, thanks for your reply.

Yes I hear lots of good things about John Lewis's customer service. I think Hudson and yourself make an excellent point. But in practice, do you think they'd accept that they're supposed to sell to me at the lower price because they didn't read me the T&Cs (which I also didn't look at on the website)?

    Cheers :A
