    Internet explorer works. Firefox and Chrome wont work? What is going on with this machine?!

    At least it is working for now. Maybe at some point you can backup everything you need and put it back to as shipped, so that you can effectively start from scratch? Not sure why only IE is working, maybe a firewall is being a bit agressive somewhere? Worth seeing if others can suggest something.

    the tracert etc has to be done from inside the cmd prompt box, but as it's working, it doesn't matter now.

    I suspect norton, uninstall it, switch windows firewall on, and install avast. If that doesn't cure it check the connections inside firefox tools, advanced, network etc.

  • Sadly it would seem that it was too good to be true! It wanted to restart after the updates I did do and so has done and guess what, now it wont work in any browser again! :mad:

    I'm going to go nuts soon!

    Theres nota great deal on there so going to sort out backing it all up. How do I go about completely wiping it and restoring it back to how it was when shipped?

    try uninstalling norton first, and checking ie connections again.

    see the manual for factory restore.
