  • There's a lot of forthright know-alls on this forum......stating what is and isn't a 'RIP OFF'...talk 'Facts' and not the 'I TOLD YOU SO' parent-style rants........
Fact - Companies, like these using these kind of methods to gain 'membership' have been warned by the Office of Fair Trading for the deliberate lack of clarity, complaints have been made and they were ordered to clean up their act.
I got knobbled twice by another company in the space of a few weeks.....I didn't give bank details....and certainly didnt give permission for a sister company to also take £19.95 per month from me...
I challenged the withdrawals and all of my money has been returned....without argument....are they the actions of a company that have me 'bang to rights' on terms and conditions or companies trying to avoid a fuss?
People may be guilty of not checking statements...or just not 'BOTHERED'.....but most of these 'clubs' are collecting money in a very misleading way at best...at worst, dishonestly and fraudulently....

its not a ripoff its a big box asking you to check box to sign up so nothing authomatic about it. ive used vistaprint for the last 10+ years and they are flawless and i have never been charged this as i read things before i continue.

how can it be a "deliberate lack of clarity" when its a large box ASKING you to check box if you want to join their vistprint plus reward scheme.

    YOU checked this box
    YOU requested to join
YOU gave them permission to set up DD

so moral of the story ALWAYS read everything carefully before you finally click order "I got knobbled twice by another company in the space of a few weeks" NO you never you just never read everything before completing an order and just ticked boxes as they were their.
  • As I said....alot of forthright know-alls.....

I wasn't referring to Vistaprint...I was referring to companies LIKE Vistaprint...who offer 'Reward schemes' with button clicking (Or not clicking buttons in my case) ...who, if they offered the 'reward schemes' on a separate link off their website would get considerably less 'members'...it would be good to see how many 'members' actually keep up their 'membership' to these 'reward schemes' when they realise money is being taken from them....

You pop up rather alot Texranger, 'Daily Mail' style, taking the contrary 'conservative' view....

whats that go to do with anything.

other are more active than me on these forums.

a REWARD SCHEME is as it says a reward to a sites current users, so having this on another site serves no purpose. in Vistaprints case
i have to laugh :rotfl:at this comment

You are told exactly how much it costs per month, so you know what money is taken before you click to take this offer.
  • It's not your activity...its the style of your activity...'Dad knows best'... 'know-all' stance....

rewardsnow, creditscorematters, VPrewards...in fact anything to do with Adaptive Infity Ltd have a massive amount of complaints against them both here and the USA....if a huge amount of people feel that they have been scammed, then the way they are 'enrolled' as members isn't clear enough.... in a perfect world, everyone would be as efficient, knowledgeable and savvy as you....but in the real world the Office of Fair Trading has ordered them to clean their act up, which they don't seem to have done...like I said, if they're operating fairly and properly they wouldn't feel compelled to refund all 'members' 'fees'...without any questions asked...
I didnt click anything to become a 'member' of rewardsnow.....

but this forum is about how the OP thinks he was ripped off by vistaprint for £9.95 a month by DD when the only way Vistaprint would do this was if the OP ticked the check box in a very large box about the vistaprint plus scheme, which is not automatic and is very clear on how it works and what you need to do to sign up and how much it will cost you per month.

The OP clearly signed up to this on his own accord and agreed to pay by DD each month.
  • Track record for Adaptive Infinity isnt good......if the thousands of complaints are a clue.....they are misleading and deceitful.....
  • I can vouch for the fact that they are sneaky rip off merchants.

I placed an order with them for some Christmas cards, studiously avoiding any boxes which asked me to sign up to anything.

I had designed the Christmas cards and really liked them, then when I went through the whole process it added on (or tried to) tonnes of extra charges, printing inside to be colour, foil accents (which I thought were included - as they boasted about them on the description for the type of card I selected, which was expensive - until I just received the invoice) envelopes to be personalised...then the charges you couldn't avoid - tax (didn't know this wasn't included), extortionate shipping costs (cards and envelopes have their own posting fees!). It worked out so expensive I decided not to bother and felt annoyed that I had wasted so much time designing the card etc (it won't show you the full cost until you have done the lot)

But then I saw a deal on their website for 30 Christmas cards for the price of 10, so I used the code, went through the process again, it ended up £22 for 30 Christmas cards. OK, I thought, and carefully clicked the "accept without personalised return labels" option (as if I clicked the other button it would whack on some more charges for those). Then I was shocked to see that it had put the cost through at £31.58 which I had NOT agreed to!

I had gone through Paypal expecting to have some level of protection, but they rejected my claim for fraudulent account use.

The company are based in the Netherlands so there is not a lot I can do without going to more expense, and of course Vistaprint themselves are not prepared to do anything.

I am always very careful with this sort of thing and am shocked that they can get away with it. I would definitely avoid them at all costs unless you want to be ripped off.
  •

I would be very careful with these guys. I ordered a mug using an uploaded photograph. The mug is advertised as free. However to receive it in a reasonable time scale the postage increases. I also inadvertently ordered some address labels.(they are very clever in getting you to do this). Long story short I have ended up paying £18.88 for the mug and labels I didn't want.In fairness to them they reimbursed me £3.70. However I am still waiting to hear how they account for such high postage rates. The mug arrived in a box four times the size of the mug which probably accounts for the increase in postage. I could have had the mug for £9 including postage from another outlet. Please feel free to pass my experience on as a warning:eek:

Never had any issues, goods always shipped early (I use the slow method). Think the website is very clear, you either click the buttons for the extra's or your don't its consumer choice. Always high quality.
