PPI falls under 'general insurance' (but this is mostly PPI). You may want to look for resolve cases and % resolved in favour of the consumer.0 -

Hi,
I am trying to find other Ocean Finance stories - successes or not before I consider what to do next. It appears my ppi was 'front loaded' but I'm awaiting a response to a DSAR request.
Many thanks in advance!"onwards & upwards"0 -
I had a loan arranged by Ocean Finance (loan was with GE Money) in July 2004 with mis sold front loaded PPI of £1040. I know I can't take this to the FOS so am I wasting my time? I have sent OF the complaint yesterday so will await their response.
Kind regards
Cath

If you sent the complaint off yesterday then you've already wasted your time, so all is good. Who knows, miracles sometimes happen.
Best of luckI drum and knit to help Independent Drummers and Knitters to comply with their rhythms and knitting patterns. Although I am qualified to, I don't advise drummers or knitters for reward.0 -

If you get rejected, then you could go for the insurer. Wait for your reply first and post it up and we may be able to help you with the next step.0 -
I've posted this letter to OF&M Ltd today, lets see how I get on
I took out the above referenced loan and was sold Payment Protection Insurance with it in January 2007, at a cost of £4017.60 inc interest.
I now wish to claim back my premiums plus interest.
This policy was mis-sold, I contend, for the following reasons.
• I was employed at the time but your staff did not inform me that any change to this
could invalidate sections of the policy during its life. I was not asked about any
intended charges or informed or warned of their effects on the policy.
• Your staff led me to believe that taking out a policy was a pre-condition of applying for a loan.
• Your staff led me to believe that taking out a policy would improve my chances of a successful application for a loan.
• Your staff subjected me to high pressure sales tactics, including what might happen to my family if I failed to buy a policy.
I now contend that I was mis-sold this policy. I claim back all the premiums and
interest I have paid in connection with this payment protection insurance policy plus
statutory interest at 8% (or whatever other rate the courts might order) from the first
payment that I made until the date of your settlement of this claim.
I would like a reply as soon as possible but, in any case, within the eight weeks
allowed for responses to complaints by the Financial Services Authority.0 -
Did you ever get any joy from claims against Ocean Finance?0
