hi i got loads of pens, rubbers and other little bits, pedometer etc from tesco's yesterday. Started from about £0.18 great value.
  • I start shopping for my mother's stocking (yes everyone in our family gets a stocking including my grandmother) during the summer and make use of the reduced sections in places like Asda, Tesco, Au Natural and Stationary Box.

I focus to on getting fun and silly things like stuffed chickens (Au Natural - 50p) and clipper board Keyrings (same store and price) but have also gotten things from the other stores mentioned.

I find that by starting early and not have any preset ideas i can get loads of cool stuff without spending a lot of money.

Have fun shopping for your stocking fillers.
  • Asda have Ipod nano skins (clear & pink) for £1 each, I also got DD (14) a lovely pink dress keyring (£2), some options hot choc sachets (5 for £1) original source shower gel (£1), fruit pasille tube (2 for £2) to start her stocking off.

more of a present than a stocking filler, but last year for OH i bought him 20 different bottles of beer/ale - all different flavours/ingredients/brewed in different countries.

each bottle normally costs around £1.50, and its a lot more exciting than the crate of stella i was going to get him. will probably do the same again this year

in his stocking i will be putting a haf sized bottle of malibu - indulge his girly side. he really likes it, but of course, it isnt macho to be seen drinking it in public :D

My Mum still makes us a stocking to open when we first get up (used to be away of keeping us busy so they could stay in bed a bit longer). So now I always make a stocking for my boyfriend so he's not left out. Examples of what I put in stockings for him:
    novelty socks (wilkinsons, hypervalue, poundstretcher)
    cheap cds/DVDs (CDwow bargain bin/amazon/supermarket/fopp)
piece of fruit something different like a pomegranite
Mr. Men books with appropriate characteristic (good for kids and adults, £1.49 wilkinsons)
    chocolate coins
    mini cuddly toys
painted shot glass (£1 bought in a charity shop, looks brand new) could buy plain shot glasses and paint them
    mini bottle of sparkling wine
    favorite chocolates
    nuts and nutcracker
Favour Cheque Book (just find a gift voucher template from the internet, I think I might have done on word or publisher, print them out, staple together like a cheque book with a piece of card on the front and put what favours you want, you could put chores or whatever you want, have seen ones in ann summers for £5, and these are virtually free see http://www.selfsufficientish.com/valantines.htm) Could also be a good mother's day present if your short of cash, do things around the house for your Mum.

Ideas that I'd like in a stocking for me:
    puzzle books
    chocolate
bath bombs (Lush/boots or if you live in Bristol there's a great shop in southville that is slightly cheaper than Lush and has the biggest range of bath bombs in bristol
    Julianne-Louise
    26 North St
    Bedminster, Bristol, BS3 1HW

    https://www.juliannelouise.co.uk
I would like anything from this shop)
books- fopp has lots of good books for £3 and sometimes £1
key ring with pound shaped attachment-can get from charity shops, my Mum loved this, uses it at supermarket, and can be used at gym
Loads of things in wilkinsons that are worth putting in a stocking, also look in charity shops then at least your recycling and giving money to charity, as long as the recipiant is not snobby.

    Kids:
julianne louise also has exploding bath powder which kids would love, and sparkly bath bombs( in lush as well), once I was in there a boy of about 7 was begging his mum to get a bath bomb!!! they also have cuddly toys and fimo mini animals.
    colouring books and pens
    puzzle books like word searches
  • I always put a little torch in my kids stockings. Mum used to do it for us as kids so you can see what santa has got you with out putting the light on
