I think you've got a good deal, and have never really understood why long contracts always get a bad time on here. I'm on a 36 month one!!
Other £5/month deals available are
Orange (36 month contract)
50 minutes / 50 texts, voicemail counts as free minutes
free handset plus another free handset after 18 months
TalkMobile (24 month contract)
50 mins / 50 texts, free handset
TalkMobile (30 day contract)
100 mins / 100 texts / 100MB data, no handset
I'm also a light user so no matter that Tesco and others can offer for £6 or £7.50 per month isn't the point as it is more money than I need to spend. I'm on Orange's deal, with with initial quidco cashback and selling the free handsets on ebay means I'm really down to closer £2 a month. There seems to be a big attempt to get people signed up to bundles and inclusive stuff that they simply won't use.
The charging for voicemail is a clever way to up the cost from T-mobile. My voicemail is included in free minutes which suits me.0 -
When I saw the £5 per month price I thought- wow- fantastic deal. But it's 24mth and no handset (SIM only deal). However, if it works for you then great- and it is a good deal. It's quite hard to get under £10 on a sim only deal. My wife was offered a £10 per month on an 18mth contract for 300mins unlimited texts and unlimited data which I thought was good, but she went for the £12.50 per mth for 600mins, unlimited texts and unlimited data. The data packages with T-Mobile are much more generous (they're either 1Gb or 3Gb compared to 500Mb on Orange), and in the new year you'll be able to share Orange's 3G network like you're doing (if you signed up for it) with 2G at the moment.Moneysaving since 2004!0

Exactly what I was getting at :T
Wish I could find the mobile internet for that price that's actually "mobile broadband" IE they don't object to you using the SIM in a modem.
I think o2 do mobile broadband for £5 per month. Only amounts to 500mb transfer per month if memory serves, but still damn cheap...0
