Hey people, i am in a jam and really need your help.
Been with T Mobile for 10 years, average spend of £80 - £100 a month.
Phoned up upgrades and was offered K800i (free) and felxt 35 tarif for £35 per month, yet new customers pay £30 a month.
I was not happy and so then asked to transfer to cancellations. I was put through and told by them that theres nothing more they can do and that offers to new customers and strictly to new customers. I then asked for my PAC and was given it in a space of 2 mins.
I argued with the person trying to make the muppet see reason, by explaining that i would simply port my number out and port it back. Was then told that i could not do this and if i tried my number would be blocked from porting back. Is this true??
Does that mean that i am stuck and have to pay an extra £5 a month?
Dos porting work if so how easy is it?
Any help appreciated as im in a panic.

I don't think so - I'm in the midst of doing the same thing, from Orange to Orange, via a Virgin PAYG sim and an old unlocked Nokia 3310.Dos porting work if so how easy is it?

It's easy enough, as long as you're willing to wait for ages to talk to customer services [personally my blood starts to boil as soon as I get through to a call centre]. You just ask for your PAC code, which they're obliged to give, then call up your new customer services from your new number, give them the code, and then they arrange a day to port your number across. I've just been quoted a week to move from Orange to Virgin.
Then once it's moved across, ask for the PAC code from the new network and sign up onto a new deal on your old network, and repeat. The CS person might comment you've only been on the new network a week or so, but they have to give you your PAC code if you ask.
Alternatively you could just stay with your current deal - just 'cos you have your PAC code doesn't mean you're going to another network [I think].
Count yourself lucky you got your PAC code over the phone, too - Orange gave me mine by post, which took an extra 3 days before I could start porting.0 -

So do i cancel my contract once my numbers ported accross or before? Also, what happens in the iterim period, when your new provider has the number but your contract is still open?0 -
T-Mobile should offer you a better deal than that. Its quite pathetic what they have offered, and normally TM pull out stops to keep high spenders. Ring them again, or email Jean Marc Codsi, somebody had his email floating about on another thread- can anyone help. His department are really good, and they should give you a much better offer. The other thing you can do is, and this is what i did, ask them to give you a new phone and a discount on your current tariff. Once they given you an amount, mine was £10 in the days when Flext was newly introduced and was at £35, ask them to change your price plan to the new 1, and your discount will carry through. I have done this myself, and for a few friends. The biggest discount i've seen on a Flext tariff, on a non- offer is £20, a mate of mine is paying £15 for Flext 35. Your spend should get you at least a £10 discount plus new phone.
Let me know how you get on, should you try this.0 -

Hi there Skilgannon,
I have asked about what your suggesting but have been told that i can either get money off my line rental on my old Bronze tariff or a new phone and that they are not prepared to do any more.
The offer they are giving me is absolutley s*** and i am so furious that i am prepared to leave them as i don't like being treated like a schmuck.
I will write to the Director if any one has his email address.0 -

Hey guys,
Are you sure that if i port my number out, that t mobile cannot stop me from bringing my number back???
I don't want to be in the position where this muppet at customer services has put a block on my number stopping me from bringing it back.0 -
they cant stop you mate
load of rubbish
port it out to prepay on diff network will take 9 days tops
then request a new pac
make sure you get the new deal before end of the month. think it changes again then! also... you can port in at any time with tmobile. so even if you have to get a new contract with tmobile with the wrong number you could still port in at a later date:beer:0 -

Personally I'd move to another network, try and find the best deal on another network and move when you can, you don't get any thing for loyalty especially with t-mobile.
I'm just about to port my last remaining line with t-mobile to another network. I was told the same thing as you only new customers get a discount, I joined when it was called mercury 121 in 1992, over 14 years as a customer and new customers get a better deal than me.
If you do want to go back to t-mobile transfer your number to Virgin or o2 PAYG which will take about a week and when your number has been transfered to PAYG give them a call and ask for a PAC and give this to t-mobile and it will take a further week for your number to be back on t-mobile. I know this process is possible on o2, Orange and Three but don't know of anyone doing this with t-mobile.Nearly debt free

Hey there guys,
I have now got my pac and am going to go into town tommorrow and buy a PAYG chip from Orange. Does anyone know if orange or any other providers have a minimum period for which i have to keep mu number with them on PAYG, or is it just a simple case of being able to port it straight out once it has been ported to orange or anyother network?
I am also going to open a new contract with t mobile online tommorrow as i equired ' pretending to be a new customer' how long i will have to port my old number from orange or any other network to tmobile and they have stated that i can port at anytime an no cost.
Does this definetley mean that my old contract with t mobile expires when the pac code is activated by a new provider on a PAYG? Or do i need to phone them again and cancel the contract?
I have considered taking a monthly contract with another network but tmobile seem to offer the best tariff at the moment with 'flext 35'.0
