selling a house, leave car in drive or make it disappear

If the drive is small / narrow then having a car on it demostrates that it is actually big enough to park on. But if its obviously big enough leaving the car off will help it seem bigger. Just don't leave the banger looking abandoned down the road - it'll lower the tone of the area!0

As has been suggested, I'd not only park the car elsewhere, I'd make sure to get rid of those boxes.., even if it means unpacking them and putting stuff tidily away in the attic. Or considering what u can throw out from the boxes.0

I'd never pull up onto somebody's drive to view their house, unless their drive was enormous and the only parking was off-road.
However, don't think that the space could possibly ever be used by the potential buyer - oh no - the smarmy, shiny-suited EA will whip into that space as quick as you like, without a second thought.
I'd move my car off the drive though, if the drive were at the front. If the drive's at the rear, up a passageway/similar then I'd leave it out the back there, demonstrating the car parking space.... no viewer would ever find their way to the rear to park.0 -

I borrowed my father in laws car to do viewings as i drive a land rover and the sellers would not have bought my poverty story or the embarrassing offer i put in had they seen the car..:rotfl::rotfl:they did!
I was pleased ... I knew they could afford to buy it and I just wanted rid.0 -
When selling a house would leave your car in drive or make it disappear when someone comes to view the house?
Can't get it in the garage because of some packed boxes.0 -

Like it or not your car says something about you, so if the viewers lean towards being green they may bristle at the sight of a huge gas guzzling 4x4 on the drive. On the other hand they may be avid off-roaders and sense a kindred spirit. You've no way of knowing, so best to shift it IMHO.
You're wanting them to buy your house not invite them on holiday with you.0 -

....but surely that's the point, so why do anything to jeopardise it? Obviously people own cats, dogs, and kids, but ask any Agent and they will suggest you don't have them around while a viewing takes place. Only my opinion of course, but I've viewed potential homes that smell of dog/cat, or you can't concentrate on what the owner or agent is telling you because of noise from the kids. It's a hard market at the moment, and you need to do all you can to make your house the one the potential buyer goes for.0 -

Seconded, twice over.0 -
We've been mostly looking at houses built in the 1930s-50s, many of which have garages and drives that are too narrow for 'modern' cars. Where someone has left their car in the drive, it's helped us be able to see if the drive/garage are wide enough for a car. If so, it's been an extra selling point for us, whereas without the car there, we might have wrongly thought it was too narrow.0
